Getting cookie crumbs, peanut butter or spices in her eyes a few times with the attendant irritation will eventually teach her not to rub her eyes when she's eating! Don't try to shield her from everything because as much as you might like to ,you can't.It's all part of growing up Children have been doing things like this since they were invented, that's the only way she'll get learn anything anyway.
Oh, just in case she does get some pepper or other such spice in her eyes, rinse her eyes out with - MILK. Just dip a clean washcloth into cold milk and wipe her eyes off.
You're lucky she doesn't try to eat everything, and I mean everything , she sets sight upon. Try living with a four year old who enjoyed eating laundry detergent (No, I'm not making this up...)
Keep it real!!!

My daughter does the same thing.
Instinctively, though, babies close their eyes when stuff gets near enough. Most, if not all, of the peanut butter, cheese, peaches, cookies, and chicken nuggets will be on the outside of the eye. Not much will actually get IN her eyes.

in case you recognize for specific there are actually not any hypersensitive reactions, i do no longer see the wear...as long as you do no longer use 'chunky' peanut butter...that must be a choking risk for a baby that small...yet once you're large strict approximately listening to the pediatrician, i'd say wait... *i spotted your replace -- i do no longer see the place ordinary peanut butter would be a choking risk, till that is eaten quickly from the jar...baked right into a cookie would not pose a risk till it has chunks..

My daughter is always rubbing things in her eyes, her hair, everywhere else too. Children have been doing this since the begining of time. There's nothing you can do to stop them, As long as your family practices good hygeine, you should be fine and kiddo will outgrow it eventually

I DON'T THINK ANY PERMANENT DAMAGE WILL COME OF HER EYE-CAPADES BUT IF SHE DOESNT STOP SHE MIGHT HAVE SOME DISCOMFORT IF IT GETS IN HER EYE !!! TRY MAKING UP A CUTE LITTLE TALE TO KEEP HER HANDS AWAY FROM HER EYES OR A SMALL REWARD IF SHE CAN FINISH A MEAL WITHOUT SMEARING IT ACROSS HER FACE !!! GOOD LUCK !

It shouldn't damage her eyes and if it causes her pain, she will eventually learn that rubbing stuff in her eyes will hurt.

You should probably watch out for her and try to show her that it could eventually hurt. If she keeps on doing it than it must not hurt bad enough.

it wont hurt her...unless she gets it in her eye....then just rinse it out....she will outgrow that soon....kids are very durable, and there are so many other dangers...this isnt that bad...but sounds like you're a good parent to be concerned...good for you....
