I have a 5 year old that can't seem to quit getting holes in the knee of his right pant leg 1month after I buy them. I am not buying cheap jeans or the wrong size. I only buy him Levis. Could it be because I get him the straight leg? Help, what's a mother to do? I know holes are in but this is ridiculious.

on the effects of day care on children? I have been searching for it and can not find the real thing-just press clips about the dangers of day care. That doesn't help. I am interested in the article itself. I want to review the methods used to determine the outcomes, group determination, backgrounds of the family, and what the researcher team considered "quality" care. I like to keep informed and since my background is in psyc and early ed and I know how to read a research paper, I would rather review it for myself than listen to a blurb on the news. Thanks!

I am having a hard time potty training my almost 3 year old. She throws up if she catches a wiff of her own poo & pee - so she associates the 'potty' with vomit. She once went number 2 in the toilet - was so proud, looked at it, and threw up. HELP!!

My daughter is 4 and she goes to a school for special needs. She is supposed to be going there to get help with her needs. Yet everytime she comes home from schools she seems to be degressing not progressing. Just last week she came home sucking on her thumb. Which really concerns me because my daughter never even took to a pacifier. So I feel that she is not getting the help that she needs. So my question to you is should I pull her out of the school and try and find a different program for her to go to??? I have tried talking to the school about this. And I seem to get no where by talking to the teachers and doctors. They try and treat me as if I go to the school and that I need help raising my child....Please help any comments or advice would be helpful.....

This is a lady I have just recently become acquainted with. I do not know her granddaughter at all. She is very excited that she will soon have twin great granddaughters. I want to give her something to let her know how happy I am for her. I would like the gift for her, rather than the babies or the granddaughter. Any suggestions.

Ok my boy is 7 month old now,and when we pull the bottle from his mouth before he is done ,he will arch his back and scream like a lil terd.He will flail his arms and kick his feet like a 2 yr old tantrum. Is this normal? He seems to get really mad when it comes to his feedings. He will do it almost everytime too.

thinks there kid is so special but they are actually just normal? I am annoyed with myself for thinking he is so special, because I have always thought those women were so annoying. I don't say anything to anyone about it ... but i seen other kids at the park his same age and and they just say barely anything. He has been talking full sentences since 12 months old, and sings tons of songs and dances...and makes up his own songs that are pretty good. Also, his vocabulary is better than some adults I know. He also vert articulate and logical... for instance, yesterday, he called his dad "Frank" his first name. I said "why did you call him Frank instead of daddy?" An his reply was "because Frank is his name, daddy is just his title"... well here is a link to a movie of him singing Do-Re-Mi from "The Sound of Music".. He was 28 months old in this video. Let me know what you think? Is this normal for a 2 year old?

I feel as though my 1 and a half year old is really smart for his age. I mean as far as knowing what to do and how to do it and listening and what not, but I want to know what I should be doing or teaching him at this age. I am already constantly reading to him on a daily basis and trying to get him to say words, but is there more I should be doing. I just want to make sure he is on the right track and won't be behind.

My 19 month old has recently picked up some really bad habits, such as hitting, bitting and kicking. I was wondering how I can handle her behavior or how other people handle their toddlers behavior. I know its a phase but, I just wanted to know.

We're trying to teach my two children their colors (I have twins, boy/girl 2 1/2 years old). My son has picked it up right away, and will easily say or find something with a specific color.

My daughter (who we consider the "smarter" on), hasn't really caught on. She either doesn't know her colors, or she is playing games with us. When we point to something and ask her what color it is, she'll usually say "red", or maybe "purple", even though it's a completely different color.

Yesterday we sorta had a breakthrough, and after a lot of one-on-one we had her saying all the colors as we pointed to them. They were presented to her on a big six-sided ball/dice so she couldn't just remember where we pointed, she would have had to see the color. However most of the time she doesn't get it right, even after yesterday.

Is she playing games with us (she'd be the twin in this family to do this!) Does she know her colors or not. Has anyone noticed this behavior before?

my son is 26 months old and he's been hearing about the potty since a few months before his second birthday. we bought him a potty and left it out in plain view and got him used to sitting on it when he went (still in diapers). now that he's 26 months and wearing big boy underwear all day while he's awake, he will not tell me when he has to go. he's gone on the potty a few times in the last week but has just peed or had a bm in his underwear every other time. i'm not sure of any other way to get him to tell me he has to go. he sits on the potty every hour for at least fifteen minutes and usually does nothing, gets up, walks away and then goes while i'm not watching. i'm really lost as to what i can do. i've offered him treats and tried charts. summer is coming and i know that once he's outside all day he'll definitely be too busy to tell me it's time to use the potty when he has to go, so i'd like for him to get started now. any ideas?

My son is 1 and half. He will be 2 in May and I have been trying to potty train him. Every time I take him he goes and so I know he knows that every time he sits on the potty he needs to potty, but how do you know when they are ready. He is still wearing a diaper and my husband thinks it is too soon for him to be in a pull up, but he pulls his own pants down when he goes to the potty, I just have to take his pamper off and he does everything else.

All right, I like to consider myself a pretty good parent but my daughter is making me crazy. She will be 3 in a few months and is very self assured. She is very confident and very well spoken. But here is the thing, we have been working on potty training for a few months now and sometimes she will go and sometimes she does not want to be bothered with it. I have tried bribing her with small treats or prizes and sometimes it works and sometimes she says no thanks I don't want any. I know that she knows when she has to go, because if she doesn't feel like it she will hide and lie about it. I do not want to punish her for it but I am not sure where else to go with this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
