Are girls really easier to train than boys?
Girls are usually easier, but I haven't seen any research that explains why this is so. Additionally, fewer girls wet the bed, and again, nobody really knows why.

If you watch for the signs that your child is ready to be toilet trained, it won't matter whether you have a boy or a girl. The main signs are:

• She can wait several hours before urinating, and, when she pees, she empties her bladder instead of urinating only a small amount at a time, which is typical of younger children.

• She knows the words that your family uses in connection with toileting, such as "pee" and "poop."

• She can get on and off of the toilet or the potty chair by herself and can raise and lower her pants unassisted.

• She generally understands and goes along with your verbal instructions. If your child typically won't follow most of your instructions, you should work on that for now and wait to start toilet training.

Girls, definitely! My sons were so hard and my daughter literally trained herself. I didn't have to do too much with my daughter - she was just so thrilled to have big girl underwear, and I completely lucked out she would just go sit on the toilet whenever she had to go the bathroom.

Most kids need a little help though.... with the boys (and you can do this with girls as well) - I set time intervals that I would sit them on the potty (first every 15 minutes, gradually moving them up to 30 minutes, 45 minutes, etc.) - I kept a basket of books next to the toilet to keep them entertained. When they produced, isolate a reward (stickers, or whatever you think will work best) and give it to them. Girls tend to catch on pretty quick. Also - go straight to wearing underwear during the day, if she has an accident, it will be uncomfortable so she won't like it. Also, I increased their fluid intake during training so they had a better chance of producing.

Good luck!!

I think girls are, because they are multi-taskers naturally. I think boys can get too focused on play and not realize they need to go.

But - boys are way easier once their trained, in that they can pee anywhere! (Well just about...) With my daughter we always had to know where a potty was. With my son, it was pull over and let him pee. Easy.

I've trained one of each, and am about to train #3, a girl. She's 2 1/2, and just not wanting to do it. Another bit of advice, wait until their ready, then it's a breeze. Don't listen to the stories of people that trained theirs at 1 1/2, etc etc. Many kids aren't physically ready until 3. If you rush it, you're only giving yourself a big headache.

Good luck!

My boy was I think that is becouse I have been trained to teach them. Use real undies they don't feal wet in pull ups (don't care what they say on the bag) Our boy wants to be with a man trainer not mommy or Grandma. So if it is a boy get dad involved.

I've always hear that boys were harder. I have 3 girls and 1 boy. Two of the girls were easy. My son is the youngest and he was fairly easy but he wasn't ready until he was almost 3.

Bring her to the store and let her pick out her favorite character panties. Buy her a piggy bank and every time she pees give her a quarter, poo gets 50 cents.Tell her that when she saves enough money she can go to the store and buy a toy with it.

ITS EASIER TO POTTY TRAIN A GIRL CAUSE ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO TEACH HER IS TO PULL DOWN HER PANTY AND SIT ON THE TOILET.
