We're headed to Las Vegas for a long weekend with our 19 month old (Grandma, Uncle & Aunt will be there too). We won't have a car and are staying at The Hotel (Mirage). Anything special happening for Easter that weekend? Any suggestions on things to do w/ a Toddler in Vegas (near the strip?). I've never noticed any playgrounds...but, then again, when I was there in the past....wasn't looking for kiddo-playgrounds. Tx!

My good friend is a 28 year old male, he has cared for my children many times when I am there and also when I am at work. I considered him responsible to care for my kids and I trusted that my children were safe in his care. Today my 5 year old told me that when I was at work the babysitter left him and his brother who is my youngest son aged 4, alone at home while he went to the shops for 10-15 minutes. I am so angry about this and feel sick to my stomache at all the things that could have gone wrong in his absence. I rang him to talk to him about it and he confirmed that it is true he did leave them at home alone. He was too busy to talk at the time so I am calling him back in one hour. I am so angry. Im wondering how other mothers would react in this situation...

I have a 16 month old wants to be held "up" all the time. No matter what I am doing: cooking, getting a glass of water, dishes, or fixing his food, just about every time I am standing. My husband and I are going crazy with this. We don't always pick him up. We do let him cry and I do get down to eye level and tell him that he is just fine standing by himself. I have tried to get him involved with other activities ie fridge magnets, tv, toys etc... So some help would be nice. I do watch Super Nanny and Nanny 911, but they have never dealt with this situation as yet. I know that he is very curious and wants to see everything. I just don't want this to gone on much longer. He is getting very heavy. Thanks for the serious answers.

My little girl sometimes lays awake at night in her room (it's not too hot or too cold as I go in and touch her and that doesn't wake her up...she's already awake several hours after she goes to bed) and just looks around. I wonder if she's depressed, can't sleep, or just what she's thinking about....she's so happy, giggles, laughs, plays, says "Momma" and "Da Da" reapeatedly during the day, etc. Should I be concerned?

It's been since October since we've moved into this house. Our previous house was in such bad shape, we (husband, 2 kids and I) all shared the living room where we slept, ate, and all of the above. The kids each slept in their bed. We on a mattress on the floor. Now since we've been in this new house, I still cannot get my son who will be 2 next week, will not sleep in his bed. I've sat beside him 'til he fell asleep, I've crept out of his room thinking he was asleep but instead he follows me to our room and I put him back in his room continuously, I've sang to him, I've crawled in his bed with him, I've played soft lullaby music for him, nothing works. It can go on for hours until I finally get to bed. For instance, I started getting him to bed at 8:30pm, its now almost 12:30am. Hubby works and is on call 24/7 so hes usually asleep through all this. If I get him to sleep, he creeps into our bed between us and I have to get up and put him back. Hes so determined to sleep with us that

This drives me crazy!! He pushes me around and only listens when I reach the verge of blowing a fuse! He does not do this with my husband (his father). What can I do to let him know I MEAN BUSINESS. The latest thing is when I put him to bed he waits for as long as 45 minutes and then comes out of his room saying he pooped. Sometimes he pulls this stunt as many as 3 times in one night. I mean...he must really strain to poop b/c there isn't much there to change. Do I change him once and then after that let him sleep in it? I would feel bad but I don't want him taking advantage of me. I have tried making him go potty before he goes to bed...after he poops when I lay him down...I am at my wits end. Any advice?

My son will be turning three in May and I want to start working full time. But day care has been an obstacle for me since my son does not want to even know about it...not because he doesnt like it...but because he is so attached to me that the moment he dosent see me he FREAKS OUT! The doctor says that he is so attacted to me that he feels that when he dosent see me I wont ever come back. But how do I change this? Daycare is expensive and I cant afford to "try it out" for a month or two without having an income? How can I prepare him to let loose and have fun without me. I want him to play with other kids without holding mommys hand. How do I make him understand that its okay to trust others. He also doesnt like anyone taking him to the potty except me...not even his daddy or grandma...only mommy....what should I do. I am in desperate need of help!!

Sleep pattern is bed by 9 or 10, up by 7 a.m. He avoids naps as well, you can start trying by 1 but he can fight it for hours, sometimes not napping at all. We now just drive him by 2 p.m. in afternoon if not asleep. Night is exhausting too, he's up several times a night, sometime totally awake and eats then plays awhile. He is great all day, playing, eating, exercise, no tension. Back to the main problem which is that after his dinner and bath he gets more and more out of control, panting, and kicking like he is doing a freestyle swim. By the time he stops fighting it and falls asleep I am exhausted. It's been such a physical fight (reading, rocking him, carrying/walking with him, rubbing him, etc.) that I feel like I've been through a washing machine. My heart is pounding. It's as if I was doing an excercise routine before my bedtime (same as babys). If only he could sit still awhile, then relax, then let sleep overtake him. Ideas anyone? Similar experieces anyone?
