Ok. My baby brother is two years old, he turned two on November 28th of 2006. He cannot talk in complete sentences, but he knows about 20 words. Whenever he wants something, he cries to get it. Since half the people in my home do not have the patience to deal with the crying, they give him some food to quiet him up.

I feel this is giving him the wrong message, like"Since i get something everytime i cry, i do not need to talk." What can i do to get him to tell us what he wants without crying for virtually everything? The crying is very loud, and i fear he is getting spoiled. Please give me suggestions.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I heard incredibly loud painfully shrieks coming from our compter room. My son, Ben, was looking at porn! He hasn't had the talk yet but he was sitting there smiling and giggling and oohing and awing. We don't know what to tell him. We even found many drawings of naked people and couples on his drawing table. I dont want my other child seeing this website and I don't want my son to show kids at school. I'm scared and I need help! please what do I do?!

Lately, when my daughter is having a bath she starts to "explore" herself, which in itself I understand is completely normal. My concern is that while playing with herself she sort of pulls on her girl parts and tells me "ouch". I ask her why it's ouch and she just says "hurt". It doesn't look inflamed or anything, so I'm not sure what to make of this. Of course my first thought is that something is going on at daycare, but she's always happy to go there, so I don't think that's it. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I should be concerned. She has no medical problems, I don't think it could be a bladder infection or anything, she isn't showing any signs of sickness.

She was so easy to take care of, never fussed or anything, and one day she just started to be stubborn... She fusses and cries over everything I do! I have to struggle to comb her hair, brush her teeth, wipe her face, give her a bath, change her diaper, get her dressed, feed her... She throws in a fit, squirms, fusses...
I really don't know how to deal with her anymore! I feel like I'm taking care of a totally different child.
Is this normal? When will it get better?

Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

When do you have usually have kids tested for this my son is 4.5 years old. Most of his immediate family has it. Is this a learned behavior or do you think he may really have it?

Do toddlers need to be actively played with and taken out and stuff all day long?
I mean like spending the whole day playing, drawing, and doing things with them?
The reason I ask is because I admittedly do not do this with my toddler, I take her out somewhere different each day, playgroups, parks etc, and I do play games with her but a lot of the time she sits and plays next to me while I do housework or watch TV. Right now she is eating cheese and cahtting to me while I type this question. Also daddy plays with her when he comes bck from work

My sister on the other hand never does anything apart from play while her kids are awake, every second she is playing and doing things with them. I don't think thats a bad thing its just that I would find it boring.

Should I be playing with her every second or is it ok for me to do other things while she does her own thing?

We already lock the door. He just climbs on things to unlock the door. Its not that I don't take him outside. We go outside all the time. I am a stay at home mom. I have things around the house i need to get done. However its when i am doing that stuff is when he runs for it. I can't just stop doing my housework. My husband is scared that he is gonna get out and someone is gonna take him. The cops could get called and He could get taken away fom us by child protective services. We are also renting our house. So we can't do anything to big.

Bedtime has become something I dread each night now as my two year old will not let me leave the room before he's asleep. He's excited to get ready for bed (brush teeth, PJ's, books, sing, etc.) But when it comes to getting into bed, he freaks out when I say "goodnight" and give him a kiss and he's already out of his bed clinging to my side before I even start for the door. I've tried to be stern, strong & even reason with him, but nothing works. We have a gate at his doorway and he will stand there and cry for Mommy & Daddy. We've let him go for a while, but eventually realize he's not going to stop until we sing him to sleep and then sneak out when we know he's asleep - which takes a while as he's wide-eyed for a .LONG TIME. Then he'll wake up in the middle of the night crying like he had a nightmare every night at the gate. (probably because he wakes up & we're not there to get him back to sleep) We have a 3 mo. old too and try not to wake him up during these events. Pls Help!

My little one has not started to "officially" talk yet. Should I be concerned? When did your little one begin talking?
Our pediatrician suggested a neurologist who suggested an EEG (which came out normal) and we are due to get an MRI and hearing test next week. Is this going overboard or is this the right thing to do since he isnt talking. He understands what we tell him and learns really quickly I feel but he just doesnt say anything. He can say up and then occasionally will say a series of words (one at a time) but only maybe once a week at most. Any suggestions would really help.
Also the neurologist says it "might" be very mild autism but we dont want to think about that one, since my husband and I feel (along with our family) that he is just not in that spectrum and we hope.
Thanks!

I am getting desperate. I don't want to resort to drugs to get them sleeping. Can anyone help?
They slept with me for the first 8 months, then I succeeded in getting one in a cot, but still waking several times a night, and the other has only just moved from my bed permanantly to the cot. She has slept through the last 3 nights for the first time. Fingers crossed it continues.
I wonder if it's because I am still breast feeding? Well, I don't wonder, but that's what my husband thinks the problem is!

My son can drink out of a regular - not sippy - cup, but he's unsure of himself and insists he will spill if it doesn't have handles on the side for him to firmly grasp. I have only one such cup and I'd like to find more, but I think I got the one I have years ago from a $1 store or something. It's like the "old-fashioned" baby cups, but I want plastic, not silver or pewter or porcelain. I'm looking for function, not decoration. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? I know a lot of sippy cups have handles, but I'm not washing any of those little valves anymore - not if I don't have to. And if you just take off the lid, most have the grooves at the top where the lid would screw on - that won't work. Any ideas on other easy-to-hold plastic cups, if ones with handles just don't exist anymore?

I would like to know the age that it was diagnosed ? And if there were any signs or symptoms that led you to suspect your child was autistic. My 3 year old son is verbally slower than kids his age.
