Lately, when my daughter is having a bath she starts to "explore" herself, which in itself I understand is completely normal. My concern is that while playing with herself she sort of pulls on her girl parts and tells me "ouch". I ask her why it's ouch and she just says "hurt". It doesn't look inflamed or anything, so I'm not sure what to make of this. Of course my first thought is that something is going on at daycare, but she's always happy to go there, so I don't think that's it. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if I should be concerned. She has no medical problems, I don't think it could be a bladder infection or anything, she isn't showing any signs of sickness.

My boys started *exploring* themselves earlier than that. But of course, boys will be boys. But my neice went thru that with the ouch. And it turns out she had chaffing. Not a bladder infection, but her diaper was rubbing on her.

I am the same way. It could be she is saying ouch because when she is grabbing at it she could actually be hurting herself. Try taking her mind of it. When she goes to grab at it, take her and try playing a game like clap your hands, Patty-cake, etc.. If she still seams persistent to grab at it and say ouch, definitely talk to your doctor!! Something could be going. You never can be too sure!!

If you are sure nothing is happening at day care then I wouldn't worry too much. My son pulls himself and says "ow" I explain that he did it to himself and he laughs. I am a stay at home mom so there is no outside cause for concern for me. I think he is just figuring things out and I wouldn't be surprised if you little girl is doing the same thing.

It could simply hurt when she does that to herself. However, giving the daycare benefit of the doubt, I would discuss this with the teacher(s). They are also your child's caregivers and they may be able to give you insight into it

I think it's normal. My son used to pull on his weenie and say owie!! I think they are just curious and they also like the attention they get when they do it. It probably doesn't really hurt that much, just feels weird and she is just curious about it.
