Dear God, I know that you want me to love and obey
you, and to love and obey my parents. But God,
sometimes it's hard to obey when nobody else is
obeying. Please help me to obey, even though I'm
all alone. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Dear God, I thank you that you always keep your
promises. Help me to be patient when I have to
wait. And help me to be grateful. In Jesus' name.
Amen.

At bedtime:
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my soul to keep
amen
Start with this short version first. Then as the kids get older teach them that they dont have to pray the same thing over and over again. That each night before the go to bed, they can talk to God like they would you or daddy. My son is 2 and he repeats this prayer with me and my daughter who is 10 has her own private conversions with God. Take Care.

This is a variation of the bedtime prayer that does not mention dying in your sleep and we love it:
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
Thy love guard me through the night
And wake me with the morning light
Amen
then our three yr old son follows this with a God Bless and calls of every family member he can remember and some of his friends from school and church. It's so cute, but don't be offended if your kid doesn't remember everyone every single time. It's their own prayer.
Good luck and
God Bless

At bedtime, we said, "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." We were young, they learn fast if it rhymes.
We sang dinner prayer to the tune of Frere Jaques "God our father, once again, thank you for our blessings, amen." If you repeat each line and say "ahh-men" it fits better ;-)
So cool that your kids are learning it in school!

Here is a simple prayer that your child could do and act out at the same time:
Thank you God for loving me from my head to my toes.

I am not religious, but my mother used to say this prayer with me for years:
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul will keep
If I die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul will take

"A B C D E F G thank you God for feeding me" is one that some of my daycare kids used to say.
"God is Great, God is good. Let us thank him for our food By his hands we all are fed, thank for our daily bread" is the prayer we say with the kids
"Dear Lord, you are great for giving us food on our plate, for giving us life, for giving us love, thank you to the father above." is one more.

Every morning we get up and look out the window and say, "God has made us a beautiful day, thank you God."
