Don't worry about it, I'm 55 years old and have probably eaten 10,000 hot dogs in my life. It hasn't seemed to hurt me any. I've also raise 4 healthy and happy boys and they aren't fat at all but have eaten plenty of hot dogs. Don't worry about every little thing your child eats, just don't let him get into the habit of over eating.

This is the time in life where your child can learn good nutrition.
Hotdogs are not good nutrition. An ocassional dog is OK, but not regularly. Introduce him to healthy foods and a well balanced diet. Read the ingredients on the hot dog label, and the % of saturated fats & nitrites; scary! If you want to give him a dog once or twice a week, at least get the "lite" or fat free kind.
Once those fat cells in the body start multiplying in youth, they may lead to obesety. And remember, you're the mom, he'll eat what YOU want him to eat, so choose good stuff;and ,a hungry child will eat, even if it's healthy food. Don't fall for the crying, he'll thank you in later life.

Children go through this frequently when they are toddlers. They will only eat a small variety of foods at a time. As they get older, this will ease but you need to encourage him to eat a wider variety of foods and possibly take a multivitamin. Hot dogs can be healthy if they are all natural. Read the label. The best are turkey hot dogs or organic hot dogs. Gerber has a great line of toddler foods that are bite size and perfect for their little hands. I suggest buying a few of their products and trying them out. My niece loves them!

Repeat after me, no child has ever voluntarily starved to death.
I don't think hot dogs are a bad occasional treat but I'd limit it to once a week.
Remember, at this stage of the game, you control the food that your toddler gets. If the only food that comes his way is healthy, eventually he'll start eating it. He'll also drive you absolutely nuts in the process but such is the price of parenting.
Pay close attention to the answer about the little boy who is overweight. Now is the time to train your child's palate to healthy food. It is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child.

My nephew has been eating sausages since he was 3, he is now 7 and still eating sausages everyday and a few other things. He is fat. He no longer fits in clothes for 7 year olds, he has no energy for sports....I wouldn't recomment eating hotdogs every day, not even for an adult.

the only good thing is they are protien.otherwise it is total crap! is it at least 100%beef,though that is crap too. tell him the store ran out of hot dogs. kids need to try something new 15 times before they decide if they like it and if he is really hungry and there is no more hotdogs - he wont starve himself forever! good luck. just keep trying other foods.

They are not healthy but all kids do go through that ''hotdogs only!'' stage. It will not hurt him to eat hot dogs but there are a lot more nutritional meals but if that is all he will eat he has to eat right? Unless you pediatrician says stop I think it will be just fine to keep doing things your way.

Oscar meyer says quality meat no fillers, read the back of the package, check it out. I've read before (not to scare you) That sometimes bugs will actually be grinded into the meat.

One study showed that the average stall bought hot dog contains a whopping 650 calories and 37g of fat. This includes 12g of saturated fats and 3g of salt which is around half of the daily recommended limit. This does not bode well that hot dogs are healthy.

They're not really healthy, but its probably just a phase. In a couple weeks or a month or so, he'll hate them and said he never did like them. Ask his pediatritian too. I wouldnt worry about it.
