I wondering how old kids are when they have a good chance of sitting through the entire movie without upsetting other patrons.

My daughter is 2 and a half and is not interested at all in being potty trained. She will pee in the potty and enjoy it but will not tell anyone when she has to pee or poop. How do I get her potty trained???

My son recently has shown a lot of signs needing to potty: One of the major signs is the fact that every morning [for the past few days] he's been taking his diaper off and making a 'mess' [pooping] on the floor.

He says a few words but not many so I doubt he'll be able to tell me verbally when he has to go.

If I put him on the potty he will go but he doesn't go to the potty automatically.

He goes on the same spot on the floor every time he takes his diaper off.

I'm eager to start potty training but worry that this is too soon. I went out today to get him some underwear and/or pull-ups but they don't even make them in his size.

What do you think? Are we ready? If so, how did you potty train your child?

Thanks!!

We need help getting 2 year old off the bottle. She wants it when she crabby, hurt, tired, or just bored. I am afraid that it will rot her teeth and give her buckteeth. Please help.

I have a 2 year old daughter (well 2 yrs old in june),
i am almost at the point of doing something i will seriously regret,
i cant leave the livingroom for one minute, because she ends up, doing something to the computer which ends up taking me ages to fix, or she is bug*ering about with the dvd machine, or she has managed to get hold of a pen, and draws on things she should be drawing on.
usually she follows me, where ever i go, now it was a pain in the bum sometimes, but i would rather she did it, because then i know what she is upto.

i have a younger daughter to, who is nearly 8 months old, and i make a good effort to be with them equally, i know my youngest will need more attention, but usually the attention i give, ends up making it fun for the 2 of them, and they end up giggling etc.

the punshment i usually give my eldest is a telling off (from a strong tone, to a roar) or i send her out the room because she is bad, and she can come in when she is good)
any advice??? x

My husband and I want to see a new kid's movie coming out, is it too soon for our 13 month old?

My 2 1/2 year old has recently discovered some not so nice words. I was just wondering when she says them, which do you think is better, to ignore it so as not to give her attention when she says it. Or to tell her that those words are bad and she shouldn't be saying them. It seems with two year olds when you tell them NOT to do something they do it anyways.

We're in the early days of potty training my 2 1/2 yr. old son, and this evening we have a problem! He's never managed to produce anything on the potty chair so far, but we've told him that when he does, he'll get a sticker (which he really, really wants!). So tonight, he said that he had to go and sat for about five minutes. Finally, after I could tell that he was trying, he managed to pass some gas. Since I felt that this showed that he had the general idea right and since he had been trying so hard, I decided to reward him with the sticker. I told him that since he had almost done it, I was proud of him for making such an effort. Ten minutes after I put him to bed, he stood up and started calling down the hall that he had to go potty. I let him get up and sit back on the potty chair. It was a no go. He is now in bed, crying loudly and screaming that he has to go again. Do you think think he just wants another go at the stickers, or maybe he's constipated? I feel terrible!

Our center is considering eliminating "nut products" such as peanut butter, items with nut oils, and any items such as granola bars, candies with peanuts in them, or peanut butter crackers. We have already eliminated them from the snacks and foods that staff serve to children, but the administration is considering a policy that would forbid parents to send these items in their child's lunches. I think this crosses the line of responsibility. I believe it is the center's responsibility to take "reasonable" precautions to protect our children with special allergic conditions, which includes not serving potentially harmful foods and avoiding cross-contamination. However, I feel that it crosses the boundary when the center tells families what to serve to their own children. What do you think?

Can you please explain to me how you feel a harness is so much worse than a stroller that they are strapped into? I have a two year old that now thinks it is a fun game to run off and have mommy chase her (into the street, etc)

Just wondering what people's reasoning is with this issue?

My friend is a stay-at-home Mom. She says her daughter's mind is still developing and is used to her attention 24/7. I am an ECE Major. We were taught that this age is not too soon to teach a child to remain quiet when adults are talking. She had crayons and a coloring book. My friend would play with her sometimes, but was not firm about being her interruptions during lunch. My parents told us "Children are seen and not heard". Meaning we needed to be quiet at times. Was my friend being permissive with her daughter?

Anytime we 're outside my daughter has decided it's a fun game to run away from me. She laughs when I chase her but I have no choice. I CAN NOT STAND IT! I am so afraid she is going to run into the street. I can't hardly get her to hold hands with me. She does it when we are in front of our house, in grocery store parking lots, etc. It absolutely terrifies me. She is still a little too young to try and reason with her about the dangers of running into the street. What can I do?

I watch a little girl 16 months old and she pretty much cries from the time her mom leaves until she gets back to get her, I'm at my wits end here and don't know what to do. If she were my child I could handle it. She not only cries she thoughs fits and I'm afraid the neighbors are going to think I'm being mean to this child. Any suggestions would be great. I've tried holding her, playing with her letting her watch tv nothing seems to work. She is not the only child I watch and she is disrupting the other little ones. Please help before I pull my hair out.

i recently became a stay at home mom to my daughter, she is 18 months old. she has been in daycare since a really little baby, now that we are at home, everyone says she is soo spoiled. i mean sometimes if i sit down or go do something, she runs over to me, her hands out and wants me to pick her up and if i say no she crys and crys for me to pick her up. i feel bad because when i was working full time i didnt have a lot of time to spend with her, i dont want her to be spoiled where she cant play by herself and always has to be held. some people tell me to just let her cry and not pick her up, i love her and dont want her to feel neglected. whats the middlepoint with not negleting your child but not spoiling them? is their one?

We have had nothing tramadic happen. About a year ago he would play and count to himself and count with me etc... Name all the colors, etc. Now he will not do any of it. When he counts he acts like he doesn't know how. I praise him for what he does right and don't make a big deal out of it if he is wrong...I also am having trouble with getting him to learn with me. I try to make it a game, craft, song, etc....He says "Not doin' it" .....He's a little stinker...=)

I know it was a bad habit to start but I am a working mother with two kids. It's too the point where my husband doesn't sleep with us because the baby is so big. I tried to put him in his crib at bed time and he cried for 1/2 hour. I couldn't just lay in my room down the hall and listen to him. As soon as I brought him into our bed he fell right asleep. With my daughter it was the same thing and I just waited until she was old enough around 2 and a half and just put her too bed but we also made a big deal about her being a big girl and having her own bed. I obviously can't do that with the baby. There has got to be easier way, for both the baby and me. Any thoughts would be great.
