Yes, these are the developmental years, and it is important that the doctor examine them to make sure they are in line with where they should be. Also, your kid still needs yearly shots. The new laws require Hep A shots before preschool and they get those at three. Also, the doc will check for diabetes and iron at age three. Age 4 will be a major shot year before they start school.
So make your appointment when you call.

yes, everyone should.....at my daughters 4 year checkup they checked her hearing and vision as well as the normal stuff. She got 5 vaccinations (in 3 shots) too....that was definitely the worst doctors visit of all. I think the others she was too little to remember it long. Last shots until she's 11 though, Dr said :-)

This is not an odd question for a new parent. Doctors suggest having a well check-up on a yearly basis for everyone to check that everything is normal.

annual well-care visits for children should continue all the way up to age19. A toddler might even need more than one per year, depending on the schedule of immunizations. Your insurance plan should have a list of how many per year they'll pay for, based on age.

The Ped recommends that children have a yearly check up. They can keep track of development this way.

There is no norm. In the old day, you go to the doctor when there is a need. Being pumped full of dangerous pills and medications isn't doing a body any good.I still believe in the old addage, "if it isn't broke, don't fix it".

Yes, they should. At the rate children grow and their bodies go through changes, kids need to have regular visits through adulthood. Most adults don't go annually, but everyone should go to be able to have a timeline of when things may have been fine and when something may not be fine.
