My favorite thing to do with this age group is to finger paint. We have used everything from paint to pudding. Just the other day we used whipped cream on the table made letters and shapes. It was fun. (A wodr of advice strip him down to a diaper or underwear that way clean up is a breeze) You could always cook with him. We make cookies all the time. Last week I had 5 kids ranging in age from 5 to 2 and we made this big cookie pizza.
Make cookie dough (we made chocolate chip)
Put it on a circle cookie sheet.
Bake as usuall
Once it's cooled add some frosting.
Then add some candy It comes out so neat.
That one project took at least an hour to do.
Play games with him, color, blow bubbles inside (we do this in the kitchen)
Playdough is another favorite of the 2 year old age group.
Do crafts with him. I'm sure you can find something age appropriate at this site. (This is my favorite I use it all the time)

If you have him at lunch time have a picinc lunch in the living room on a blanket. Have sandwhichs and other picnic foods.
I know all about not being able to get out. Usually here it's either snowing or freezing cold out at this time of year. Today it is freezing rain. I have 2 kids a 4 year old and an almost 3 year old.
all these activities I have mentioned are ones I plan on doing today.

OK you need to remove all objects of the table for this one
How about making play dough?? I lay baking paper over the table tape it down and then I help my child mix the play dough and then we get messy! SO much fun
Clean up easy just pick the baking paper up and throw in the bin! Good luck
Recipe Flour, water, salt so it's not too tasty and food colouring x x x

Does he like water? Put a plastic tablecloth and towels on the floor. Fill a shallow basin with lukewarm water, a little baby wash (to make bubbles) and bath toys. Then, you both just sit on the floor and play in the water. My 19 month old loves to do this...we sometimes play like that for 30 minutes...

Crayons and paper, sit down with him and create something together!
Bake cookies together.
I would suggest TV as a last resort, but if you're interactive with him, he'll be more attentive and less likely to get into things.

Since a kids attention span at that age isn't too long I suggest that you let the kid mess up that house, but also make a game of cleaning it up, since a clean up song while doing it.
