Probably in the womb. Newborns react to happy and angry voices. Babies can discern facial expression very early too, probably by 3 months at the latest. Babies are also excellent in "sensing" mood.

from any age the child will start to learn and under stand if you are yalling at them or if yoare being nice and carring, but you may want to watch the way you talk to them because that will effect the way they talk to you in the future.

the second they are born the can tell the difference, thats why when you yell at a baby it starts to cry, but when you sweet talk to it it is calm and happy :)
