I have been in quite a few car accidents as a child and an adult. I still have PTSD from my head on collision in 2002 and my side hit in 2002. A lady counted to 3 and backed out infront of me cause she didnt want to shovel her snow bank down. The colege kid drove off the side of the road on the yard and ran into my car side ways.

Daily I am nervous about driving and i pull over or I beep a bit more than i used to.

I used to take medication and I used to go for counceling.

Now I do alot of breathing techniques. I also keep telling myself im safe.

Children are different though. They are a bit more fragile.

I think alot of reassurance that hes ok and safe. That mommy and daddy are driving safely. Telling him the seat belt will kep him safe.

Tell him the air bags are their for safety

Perhaps a portable dvd player to get his mind off things while in the car. or a game or toy. Play how many out of state license plates can he find.

i know it's not easy. When I was a child my mom was in labor and crashed into a bus station. IT was very scarey. glass all over people yelling. Thank god no one was injuried. I still remember it now and im 36.

I think reassurance and letting him voice his feelings and fears. Distract him while in the vehicle with games and videos etc.

I truely wish you the best of luck. Dont forget to hug your child today.

Good luck

Think possitive at all times. do not think about what could happen, just make sure you dedicate your time to his needs. re-assure that everything will be fine. maybe there is a story or something that will cheer him up. make take a little time
