I need ideas for my 3-year old daughter's birthday party. Both boys and girls will be attending. Probably about 12 boys and girls total.

This is the first party I have ever organized, and I have not been to any other kids parties, so I really need ideas to keep them entertained!

We are thinking of renting a room in a community center so the kids can have room to run around.

Keep it simple. I used to do birthday parties for a fast food resturant. You do not need alot of food for the kids. A hot dog, some fruit and cake will fill them up. Even give them half a sandwich. Definetly have parents there to help. A room in the community center is a great idea. It is cost effective and the children will be containted. You could have some balls, hoola hoops and other toys for them to play with. Bubbles are always a hit, familiar music will help to entertain them. Boys and girls love to just play and run. Do the party stuff first and quick and then let them play, I feel if you let them play and then do party stuff it can be difficult to get them settled. Keep things moving, if most of the kids are done eating move on to cake and presents. Boredom is the number one component of behavior problems.

Whatever you do, keep it to an hour or two at most. Kids this age don't need extended amounts of time. Also, expect parents to stay, so make sure whatever food you get is enough for parents, too. I'd suggest contacting a place with an indoor playground or scheduled activities where someone else is responsible for entertaining the kids. We have a place by me called Pump It Up and it's a giant room with inflatable toys and tunnels, etc. for kids to run around in. A place like that would be perfect for 3 year olds. Maybe even a McDonald's with a play place. They won't sit for a magician or anything like that at age 3, so you're better off letting them loose some place.

For my twins 3rd Birthday we had a Dora and Deigo themed party, as that is what they have really been into. And had some friends over to celebrate, just let the kids play. Then later in the month (only because I procrastinated) we had a party at Pump it up. And all the kids (and adults) had a blast! So I recommend to do that!

We had my three yearolds b-day party at Chucke Cheese. We used coupons from the sunday paper that combine tokens and pizza I think we spent $50 total and there were about 10 kids and 20 adults. We even had tokens left over.
