My best bet would be that it's growing pains. I used to get real achey legs when I was little. It is caused from growth spurts. I would maybe get a 2nd opinion in case it's something else entirely. If it is growing pains, use motrin or tylenol and let him soak in a warm bath every night before bedtime to soothe the pain. Also, make sure he gets plenty of excercise during the day to stretch his muscles and tendons, but don't let him overdo it. good luck!

I assume you saw your family doctor/pediatrician on this. If you really think there is a problem and that the doctor missed something, considering seeing another doctor. Ask for a referral to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. Remember, kids are born without knee caps and your kid may be developing slow.
As far as letting infants sleep on their stomachs, that is OLD school. Now it is recommended they sleep on their backs or sides. A toddler it usually does not matter as they will not stay how you put them anyway.

I don't know if this will help you or not. But my knees go out of place as well. The cause of mine is because one side of both of my knee caps are really shallow. Because of this, my knees go out of place alot, and I have had to have surgery twice(once of each knee) from falling. You might want to get him into a specialist for legs and maybe even try to get him into some type of physical therapy to strengthen his legs.
Good luck and I hope this helps you.

Its been about 6 years now and I don't remember what it was called exactly but our doctor had me start giving him 4oz of calcium fortified o.j in the morning and before he went to bed and it got better almost instantly!! I know it was some kind of vitamin defficiency thing but like I said it got better so I never really worried about it again.

My guess is that his tendons and muscle did not form correctly in parts of his leg that cannot be seen and although they may look fine now, back when he was a baby it was possible there was a problem that just didn't heal right.
My other guess is that he could be growing rapidly and having continuous growing pains, maybe growing fast runs in your family if your sister had the same problem.

I've had a couple of undiagnosed conditions myself. You should see a specialist. Stay as far away from HMO's as possible. I had sever chest pains for 20 years. They said it's just growing pains. See a specialist
