A animal behaviorist said that he has a behavior problem and to nurter him will this work or make it worse? if i get mad at him for sneaking out of the house he will go out of his way to jump up on a bed, table, couch or counter to pee. Iarching for pee spots in my house. I have a king german sheppard who is just a pup and she is almost house broken. I have also had other dogs which i successfully trained. is it me or my jack-a-chi that has the problem and how do i correct it?

Do large breed puppies need special food?
I read large breed puppies shouldn't have a high energy diet because it messes with their growth. Is this true?

I have a 9 wk old Great Pyrenees Puppy and I am planning on switching her to a food of higher quality. I am trying to decide between "Solid Gold: Wolf Cub (Large Breed Puppy Food)" and "Natural Balance Ultra Premium", which says its for all breeds and life stages. Which do you think would be better for my dog? and why? Would you recommend something else?

Solid Gold Wolf Cub:
Protein, Min 26%
Fat, Min 12%
Fiber, Max 4%
Moisture, Max 10%
Calcium, Max 1.5%
Phosphorus, Max 1.2%

Natural Balance Ultra Premium:
Crude Protein 23.0% minimum
Crude Fat 13.0% minimum
Crude Fiber 3.0% maximum
Moisture 10.0% maximum
Omega 3 Fatty Acids 0.5% minimum
Omega 6 Fatty Acids 3.0% minimum

Myself and my mother are the only ones in the family not allergic to any kind of animal. I would really like to have a pet that requires responsibility and that can show a little more activity than a bird or small rodent. My house is perfect for a medium sized dog but here are the problems... 1: My mother does not want the responsibility of having to take care of the animal (cleaning, vet, food, shedding fur, MONEY, death) 2: One family member is allergic to dogs. If anyone knows of any kinds of dogs that are not too large and not too small and do not shed a lot, I would appreciate the info :)

I have an 8-month-old german-wire-hair/blue heeler cross, and she is driving me crazy. Within the first week of owning her, my family noticed that she had an obsession with water. She drank excessively, and took advantage of water the moment that she saw it. Of course she would pee on the carpet, and in the kitchen, but she's a puppy, and she wasn't fully house trained yet. After a couple months, we took her to the vet, because her peeing problem had worsened. She would pee for no reason, and when we went to scold her, she would pee even more! The vet said that it was a behavioral problem, and that she would grow out of it. He also told us to limit the amount of water that she drank. So we did as he told. It's been six months since we went to the vet. Her peeing had stopped for a while, but then she got into the habit again! It's so frusterating, and my family is beginning to lose hope! We take her to out to pee regularly, and the moment we get inside... she pees again! Please help us!

I got my puppy from the pound 3 weeks ago . she has been sick ever since i brought her home . i took her to the vet and he said that she had bronchitis and gave her some antibiotics and said that if it didn't help that i should bring her back and he would give her some antivirals. she still isn't doing better and now she seems to be breathing heavy throughout the day and more often at night. the pound didn't say a word to me when i got her about this . could they get into any kind of trouble for not even warning me about it . i paid 60 dollars for her and didn't know if they would give me my money back for her if i took her back because of this.

my mother and I!!! What's the deal? He obeys my father, but runs all over both my mother and me. All my father has to do is holler at him, or barely look or say anything to him, and the dog automatically knows to straighten up! Both my mom and I can get firm with him, holler at him and what have you and he STILL pays NO attention to us! I must admit though out of the three of us I'm the only one that really shows him any affection as far as playing with him and spending time with him, and I will admit that I honestly think he's spoiled (by me). What can we do? Is there something that my father is doing that my mother and I aren't doing? Give me your thoughts!! Thanks!

Please don't freak out and start yelling "Get him to the vet!!!!" I'm using my intuition as a puppy mother that this is not serious. At least not immediately.
Anyways... Sometimes when he sleeps i hear this noise that sounds EXACTLY like gleeking. But it's not coming from his mouth, it's his belly or something. I'll check on him and he'll wake up and look at me like "What? I'm sleeping here lady!" But it's so weird!

we have had her since she was about 10 weeks. she was inside untill she was about 6 months & my landlord had a cow b/c of what she is and made me keep her outside. she is now 19 months and i purchesed my home. we have taken her back inside, but she barks & some times growls at strangers. can i resocilize her at the age or is it too late? she is great with the whole family, even my 3 small kids. we never let her chew on anyone or play rough since we'v had her, but i think being outside in the kennle for so long messed her up. she is an american bulldog. thank you for your help. :)

his is from a litter of mix reed puppies that my mix breed terrier had in october. we drove from kansas to texas with him and his sister whom we are keeping. the car ride was fine, they both where calm during the trip and acctully slept most of the way. potty breaks where easy. we arrived and the new owner met us at the car. both dogs freaked out, peed uncontrollaly and barked and nipped at the new owner, now they had both met this person in december and at that tiume showed no aggrevation. the frmale has calmed down and will now crawl on the new owners lap and beg fir attention. the male will still avoid this new person and will sometime ite and other times allow himself to be pet. we are taking the male back but i am not sure if we will be ale to place in a home. there was a case with one other litter mate where a couple took two puppies but a few days later brought one female back and claimed she had bite and injured their land lord, we had no proof.

I have heard that you should not neuter before 6 months, due to the liver and kidneys not being fully developed yet. Is this true? My pup is 6 weeks old we are planning on having him neutered we are just not sure when. Please Help...serious answers only. I always spay or neuter my pets due to the worlds high pet population and the number of homeless pets so do not tell me to spay or neuter, like my question says I am already planning on doing that.

I have a house trained dog in a household of females. It is a foster home and I'm searching for adoptive parents. A couple came to see him and and within a few minutes the dog went over and marked the man. I have had other male guests in the house and not had this problem before. Did the dog like them or not?

Is it ok to leave a two 10 week boxer puppies outside the house during the day (8-5)? The puppies will be placed on the deck and it will be fenced in all four corners so nothing happens. Also, the weather will be usually 65-75 degrees (I live in California).

At night, the puppies sleeps in the garage, but I am worried that while I am at work, the puppies will pee and poop soo much, that they will be covered in it by the time i get back. Plus, there will be more space for them to place and run.

Crate training will not work because they cannot hold going to the bathroom for 8 hours....so is leaving them outside ok???

Hi,

I am a new dog owner. The name of my dog is "Tunnu" and he is not behaving very well as of now. He bites our bed sheets and tears them off .. will bark in the mid night to spoil our sleep. I am looking for some good dog training ebooks which can teach me how to make the dog understand my commands and other things like shake hand and jumps etc.

Any help will be appreciated.

I am trying to crate-train my new puppy and I've only had her for a few days. She cries a lot at night, which I know is normal.. the problem is that I think she's lost her voice from barking so much!! Is this something I should worry about?

I know there are severval kinds, but to find out what they are would be helpful for me. I looked on the web under everything I could think of and no where did I find all the different kinds besides the deerhead, mexican, applehead, teacup, long haired, smooth coat. I have 2 chihuhuas, one is a deerhead (which I recently learned there was a kind by that name) and I have I believe to be an applehead.

I've been around many dogs and they all liked to lick of "kiss" their humans to some degree but I've found my dachshund does it incessantly. She even wakes me up at night by licking my feet! Why does she do this? Is she missing some vital mineral or some other dietary factor that I could put in her food to make her stop doing this? I'm going crazy!!!!
