I suggest getting your dachshund neutered. That helped mine to stop humping people, dogs and other objects. It will also make him "calm down" alot. My dachshund is almost 4 years old now but I had him "fixed" a couple of years ago. He is alot more laid back and better behaved now. It was the best thing I could have done.
I am really attached to him and didn't want to have to get rid of him. My husband was at his wits end with his behavior. He said if it didn't stop - him or the dog was going to have to go. I am really glad it worked because I didn't want to lose either of them.

As for the potty training, dachshunds are just plain stubborn. You will have to set a firm routine for him. Take him outdoors every couple of hours and let him use the bathroom. Or, if you are training him to use the bathroom on a puppy pad, etc - take him to it every little while and encourage him to use it. If he goes in the floor be very harsh when you scold him, then him up and take him to the pad and sit him on it. Make him realize that it is completely unacceptable to "go" anyplace else.

Good luck to you. I hope you can get him to behave better.
