I would like advice on how to exercise my dog (besides short walks, which I already know we will be taking). I understand that my pup will be lethargic right after the neutering and the day after but I'm worried about the other 9 days that he can hurt himself. He is totally hyper and spends half his time standing on his hind legs. I am worried that a couple of days after the surgery he will go back to his normal jumpy and rambunctious self and hurt himself. Of course, he will be wearing the lampshade while unsupervised. How can I keep him busy, entertained, (what games can he/ we play?) so he won't want to jump around or stand on his hind legs??

I've been struggling with most prepared commercial dog foods and my dogs skin issues. I need a simple recipe that's complete in nutrition that I will make in my slow cooker. I would like to use ground turkey, any ideas what to add for a well balanced diet?

My GSD puppy is 5 months now. I taught her not bark on neighbors and people walking alone my fences. I brought her to off-leash park every weekend so she socials with people and other dogs well, especially with people. Also I trained her basic obedience everyday, sit, stay, lie down, come, ect. Now I have a little concern, could all these reduce her protective instinct. For ex. could she not bark or alert if there is a strange try to enter or already entered in my yard? Please let me know your experience of protective side of this breed. Thanks

It started about a month ago when i came back from school. I found my dog limping and in pain. So i brought it to a vet, He told me that something had hit her (My dog,a Jack Russel Terrier, About 3 years old) on the back which caused the problem and that it would be fine after 3 weeks. But after two days she was healthy again, climbing up and down stairs as usual.
Out of a sudden, today she begin limping again in the same manner as the last time. Her hind legs seem to be inmobile and unable to move much even though she can still move, she can't climb stairs. When I tried to carry her she would screech as if I had touched the wound somewhere causing pain. I am very worried about my dog can someone please help me.

My 5 months old puppy (Yorkie) eats anything she finds and drives me mad as she may pick up something dangerous. How can I train her not to do that?
My previous dog never learned not to do that, although when adult she would only pick up edible stuff and run off with it.

My neighbor has a pit bull and blue heeler that continue to come into my yard and whip up on my four little puppies. My adult dogs try their best to keep the bad dogs away but all morning they are fighting badly. My dogs are staying in their own yard. two of my four pups have been injured bad enough to bleed so do I have the right to put rock salt in my bb gun and shoot the neighbors dog? I told my neighbor and he said to take the water hose to them but this does not work and now my pups wont eat or drink as they are terrified that the mean dogs will come back in their yard.

I have a three month old lab and my cat is about 4 years old. She's a bit jealous that a dog has invaded the house, but they don't really fight. The pup is really playful and will follow the cat throughout the house. She acts like she could care less. But then again sometimes the cat sits there with her paw in the air like she's about to swipe him if he comes close. lol

So does your cat get along with your dog?
