My sister wants to breed her pedigree poodle with another poodle, then give the pups to kids with asthma, as poodles are allergy-free.
Does anyone know where she can find a male dog for her female one, whose owner wouldn't charge too much, as the pups would be going to needy homes?

To all you self-righteous anti-breeding people out there - GROW UP!!!

I had terrible asthma as a kid and was desperate for a dog. Eventually my mum found out about poodles and I had one for 17 years. It brought a great quality to my life and that is why my sister is inspired to do this.

All this stuff you lot spout about there being too many dogs out there may be true, but there are NOT ENOUGH dogs for asthmatics - especially ones given out free from the goodness of someone's hearts.

I went to the vet to get my puppy vaccinated the other day and the doctor's answers seemed a little odd. I want to know if anyone thinks the same.

I've been feeding him a very good quality food but he said you don't want to feed him just Nutrience for the rest of his life. My sis asked if it was ok to switch to a cheaper supermarket brand, he said "certainly!" He encouranged changing his diet and letting him try different brands (with a gradual change ofcourse). He said to feed him food scraps. My sis aked if bread was ok. He said "yes but not too often". I thought he would of said "certainly not" or something. He told me if I wanted to buy a crate, he showed me with his arms the length of around 1.5m long, which is quite large for a maltese crossbred. He told me that I didn't have to buy odour cleaners from the pet store, instead clean with normal cleaners and just give it a final good wash with water. I never heard you could do that before.

Tell me what you think???

As poodles are allergy-free. Does anyone know where she can find a 'stud' for her *****, whose owner wouldn't charge too much, as the pups would be going to needy homes?

im looking for either a "morkie" or a mixed toy sized dog. i live in New York, but i can travel to connecticut if needed. im looking for a dog that range around 3 to 4 hundred 5 hundred at the most. i think spending a thousand dollars on a dog is ridiculous. If your a breeder your help is appreciated.

also if your breed needs a jacket in cold weather would you like to be able to get something more stylish than the tartan things you can get in pet shops?or do you think clothes for dogs is just silly?

She has gone off her dog food. she wont finish off the whole tin anymore. i was thinking maybe because its been hot here in australia over summer... but i think its more like she is sick of the taste of it... (cant really blame her, it smells awful, ant begin to imagine what it tastes like!!!)
she is losing a bit of weight.
she seems to enjoy the cats food though..... is it ok to feed her tinned cat food?
and yes, i have tried a variety of dog foods but the cat food seems to keep her happy.

My neighbor breed pomeranians. Recently(in the last week) one of her females came into heat. One of her male dogs mated with her three differant times, yet her other male dog(which has previosely successfully breed with another female) shows absolutely zero interest in her. These dogs all live in the house(no kennels) like a pack. We were wondering if his lack of interest could be due to the pack mentality of only the alpha male breeds. We know it isnt a health problem, because he has regular check ups with his vet. The one that mated with her is a bit younger, so could it also be that the older male just senses that it is too early in her heat for the mate to be successful and is waiting til she is more likely to become pregnant. Sorry if this is confusing, didnt know exactly how to write it out and it make sense, but if you can make sense of it please...any ideas.

I have a 12 week old Rot/shepherd mix who has twice within 2 weekswent from being a normal rambunctious puppy to shaking uncontrollably, not being able to move, her eyes cloud over and she looks like she's having siezures. I called our local vet who wants like 200 bux up front to treat her, he said its low blod sugar to give her sugar water or karo syrup. I gave her both and she was ok within 30 mins. My question is is she diabetic or does she have low blood sugar? and is there a medicine she needs to be on or I need to keep on hand or do i need to take her to a vet asap (I'm going to next week but I'm not sure if she'll be ok till then)

Thanks

I have a 8 month old blue heeler. We kept her inside for the first few months with our other dog, but we cannot get her to house train. We have had to keep her outside because she is ruining the carpet (we have a nice yard, a large doghouse and visit with her daily, she's not mistreated outside). I would really love to have her back inside with us, heelers are known to be hard to train, but I know it can be done. Any suggestions?

Im beginning to get frustrated with crate training. It seems that the crate only prevents my dog from going to the bathroom while its in there and doesn't to teach it not to go inside. I take my dog out every 4 hours or so but if it has to go between each trip it does where ever. I dont hit her, and I dont want to have to hit her, but I also dont want to have to keep my eye on it every second Im in the same room with her for the rest of her life. It almost seems like I should set-up an accident so I can scold her. As of right now I dont do any punishment if I dont catch her in the act. Even then I just say NO! please help

Last week, a stray dog found her way to our home. Although she is healthy, we think that she was abused as she was very hand shy with us at first. We figurred that she was dropped off near us by her previous owners since she tears things apart. Since she is a puppy that has been abused, I find it hard to get after her when she has accidents on the back patio area and she is chewing up the patio carpet, etc. What is an appropriate way to stop her actions without yelling at her and having her get scarred of us too?Understanding that she is a puppy, and that small animals will do this, I am having a difficult time punishing her. Thanks!

I have a Basenji who is a year and 6 months old. I know that when a dog lifts his lip it is a sign of aggression, well at least I thought. My dog is always lifting his lips at family members, myself and my other dog. He is very spoiled and loved. He is also very loving, he loves the cat and going to the dog park... so my question is, why does he lift his lips? When I give him kisses or I move him over on the bed while he is sleeping he lifts them? I always thought it was a sign of aggression but sometimes he is wagging his tail. Please help, any ideas? Thanks.

I think I saw my dog playing with a penny that fell on our carpet, I turned around to get her a toy so I can take it away from her, and then I notice it was gone. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow, because its late at night right now, but what should I do in the mean time?

My best friend of 17 years, my little Lhasa Apso, Cotton, passed away last October, and my Rott/Shep. mix doesn't seem to be acting the same since. I know that animals grieve, i'm seeing it first hand and it's absolutely breaking my heart, and I don't know how to help him. I, myself, am still having a hard time without my baby following me from room to room in the house, and she was such a huge part of all our lives (she made sure of it), now Bullet, who has been with us for almost 7 years, very active and playful and -in the middle of things- wants to lay off by himself, never wants to go outside, or for a ride in the truck, which he used to live for! What can I do to help him through this?? I understand 8 yrs. is a ripe age for a Rott/Shep. but it all happened suddenly, in Oct. '06 when Cotton passed away. Would love to hear your thought on the matter.
