im looking for either a "morkie" or a mixed toy sized dog. i live in New York, but i can travel to connecticut if needed. im looking for a dog that range around 3 to 4 hundred 5 hundred at the most. i think spending a thousand dollars on a dog is ridiculous. If your a breeder your help is appreciated.
thanks

I just got a female japanese chin pup this weekend and she is so sweet. These dogs are really quite and they don't bark much (mine hasn't at all, except when she is dreaming). They are great apt. dogs and they love to just sit in your lap. Make SURE you buy from a reputable breeder and don't just buy a cheap dog. I made the mistake and bought a pup that had an ulcer in her eye. I didn't realize how serious it was until I took her to the vet. make sure you check your pups eyes before you buy them to make sure they look healthy. I would suggest a puppy exam by your vet right after you get them as well. Good luck!

PS: Papillons are great dogs too. I was torn between a chin and a papillon.

Go to YAHOO! and type in "dog breed selector" Several questionnaires will come up. They will ask you about your lifestyle and preferences. This should give you a good idea about the breed good for you. Once you get it narrowed down, go to akc.com and look at the breed standard. then you may want to volunteer at a shelter or rescue so you can meet the dogs in person and see if you connect. Another resource might be to go to a dog show. Whatever you do, don't go to a pet shop or a backyard breeder

This may come as a shock to you, but you may be able to get what you're looking for at a local animal shelter/city pound. Many people don't realize that there are MANY MANY MANY pure bred pets at the shelters/pounds, and they're usually already disposition tested, potty trained, and spayed or neutered. There are plenty of pets in shelters needing homes and they're just as good as anything you'd get from a breeder, and usually a WHOLE lot cheaper!

"3 to 4 hundred 5 hundred" is ridiculous also for a dog that is nothing but a mix mutt.

If you want a mixed breed, you shouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for it. Get a purebred. I suggest chihuahuas. They are the best dogs ever.

Take a look on Craigslist in NY or petfinder classifieds. I see small dogs looking for new homes all the time. Last I looked, there were a few small poodles and some dachshunds.

Bichons are really cute toy dogs. I have three of them and I love them to death. You can find them at resonable prices too. I bought my 2nd one for only $100, my 3rd one was $500. They are so cute and fluffy though! They look like a little cotton ball!
