The parent clubs write the breed standards for the AKC. Do they also write the breed standards for the UKC? Or someone else?

Please note that I'm looking for person opinions about the value/merit/worth of the UKC. Just wondering who writes the standards.

I have a question. I know that Parvo swept over Ohio this last fall and this winter. I want to know if there are veterinary rules for a veterinarian to inform the dog owner if the dog has a serious illness?

I ask this question because this winter my family went on vacation and we had our dogs stay at a reputable kennel in the area after which the dogs became ill. The Veterinarian brushed off the illness until it became too bad to ignore (two visits later and Vomiting, lethargy, lack of eating, and diarrhea). Both dogs died after they were admitted into emergency care and the vet witheld information on what really happened. They sent the bodies of our dogs to the center of disease control and then gave us a false number at which to call for follow-up. The dogs died from symptoms similar to parvo.

Are there malpractice laws involving canines? How can owners protect themselves?

hi all, I will be participating in creating a "games" class at my local dog club. The goal is to come up with games where we can split the participants into groups and have contests that challange the dogs and handlers to work together. The dogs in the class will range from begginner to intermidate as far as training goes. We want everyone to be able to participate, and we want it to be a fun brake from normal obedience. I'm not a trainer myself, just a helper. Does anyone have any ideas?

without fear of an accident? How do you know when it's the right time to start taking the chance? Will she wake me up to go potty, or just go on my floor? She NEVER went in her kennel.

He is a 1 year old tibetian terrier cross poodle, who we have had for about 6 months. He was picked up off the streets so we have no history for him. He was allready house trained when we got him, but when I have to go out he almost allways poops. He is never left alone - he allways has at least one of our other dogs left with him (we have 3 in total) and he is put out, and supervised until he poops before I go out and it doesn't seem to make much difference. I think it is an anxiety thing, but I don't know how to stop him doing it. It's not a problem we have had with any of our other dogs.
We don't tell him off as he won't connect the row with the pooping so there is no point, and he allways gets praised when he goes outside.
Any suggestions?

7 year old Female and a 3 year old Male. Exceptionally well trained and low maintenance (except shedding once a week. Ringo and Copper have been my refuge since my wife left. I am a Soldier and I have to go away to trining frequently. I am a wreck from this. I would get out and get a full time job to keep them if I could.
