I bought my puppy one of the rope toys too (he is 12 weeks old) and the strings/pieces were just coming off so easily, so I took it away from him. Not sure if it would hurt the puppy, but I figured why take the chance? I didn't want to be nervous every time he played with the toy, and I knew the pieces weren't good for him and I didn't want to put him in a position where he could choke. Now he just chews on plush/hard plastic toys and once they start to come apart, I take those away too.

Of course not. My dogs had those when they were puppies and they would have a great with their ropes and Kongs. If you are worried about your dog making a mess of little bits or rope on the carpet try buying a Kong they work really well. Just buy a small one for your pup and put a dog biscuit as far as you can fit it in and your puppies will be as happy as ever. My dog loves her Kong and brings it over to me every time she wants a dog cookie in it.

She probably will be OK, although I would not leave her alone with it, because it could cause a slight choking hazard. My dog does the same thing but I have discontinued the rope because of the mess he makes. Instead I have gone with nylabones and sometimes rawhides. The important thing is to have something soft your dog can chew on and something hard... this helps balance the chewing and prevents the build-up of tartar on your dogs teeth.

rope toys are ok for some dogs, but any toy that comes apart when your pupppy is playing should not be given. This is why puppies should always be supervised when playing in case of things coming apart. Try hard toys such as those rubber tires, or kongs.

No it's actually good for them when their teething and for playing cause when they chew on the rope it helps keep their teeth strong. Eating peices of it is nothing as long as they don't choke b/c the piece is to big. Otherwise its good for them.

She probably isn't being hurt by this. The biggest problem the puppy and you face is her choking on a piece of the rope.I would say monitor your puppy while she is chewing on these toys.

I'd get her something safer, although the material probably hasn't damaged her, why take chances? I've found that the threads can get caught on their teeth and irritate puppies gums, and that's no fun. My pups like squeaky toys.

It shouldn't be to but, but I wouldn't take the chance. You should take it away so she doesn't choke on the pieces and buy her more solid toys.

No its shouldnt hurt them...its actually good for there gums. They might be in pain anyway from teeth coming in so biting on something may be helping the little guy out.
