Ok i have this very abused dog that we rescued the other day cause the people just up and moved and left her there for a week with out food or water. She is 3 months old and has never had shots before and was allways left outside. But we are taking her to the vet on friday for her first set of shots (parvo distemper..etc). But i was wondering since she is 3 months old is this gonna be bad that she is just now getting her shots? Is this gonna cause any problems that she is getting them so late? Cause i know the vet starts them when they are 6 or 7 weeks old...but any ideas?

He has been crying for the passed few days when we put him in the cage: obviously natural behavior. But until today, his cries could actually be identified as a dog's. As of today, his screams sound so extremely strained, high pitch. It looks painful for him to scream.
We noticed that he has been coughing today, too on and off. Maybe there is something in his throat? He has no trouble eating, drinking or breathing so maybe he strained his voice? Help?

I took me dog to the vet 2 weeks ago and they took a cell sample from the lump. The vet said she thinks it is just fatty cells and sent me home with anti-inflammatories and told me to bath it. I did this for 4 days like I was told and the lump did not change. The vet told me they have to do a biopsy. Does anyone know what he could have?

My lab is suppose to get 4 sets of shots that are 3 weeks apart. I just found out today that these were suppose to be 3 wks apart and he is late on his 3rd set. He got his last set Dec. 30th. If I wait until next week, will this mess up his puppy shots. The lady at the vet told me I needed to get him to the vet as soon as possible. Is it imperative that I stay on the 3 week schedule?

My husband and I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter. He is about 2 years old and has been abandoned twice. He developed separation anxiety almost immediately. We tried crating him, he tore the wire crate apart and got out of the plastic one in 15 minutes! We tried a "safe" room but he destoyed it. My husband has a job where he can take him with him and he does. Is this the wrong thing to do? Will it create more anxiety? We have been able to leave him for short periods of time recently and are slowly working up to longer time periods. This is what we thought was the right way to deal with his separation anxiety but some people have told me otherwise. What do you think?

My Husband and I live in a small townhouse and I would love to have a black lab, although my husband suggests that we wait until we have a house with a backyard. Any suggestions with a compromise?? :) Additionally, I love to take long walks and I realize that these breeds need lots of exercise!! :)

My ex-wife and I were divorced 2 weeks ago and in the divorce decree I get our 5 year old male doberman and she gets our 8 year old female doberman.

The female is very indipendent and doesn't favor us any different. Our male really likes me. You could say he is my dog.

We got both dogs when they were puppies and they grew up with each other.

I really want to take him but should I? Any suggestions?

Thanks

People say cats are smarter. So y dont cops use them to search for ppl's traces, or customs to search for drugs? I believe that dogs are way more intelligent and extremely loyal. Blokes Best friend i say. Treat them well and u've got a friend for life. Cats only go to whoever has food, rub up against ur leg then they just F*** off again.

My dog is 1yr4months old. I recently noticed that his one tooth was missing. It was partially missing. The tooth that I found on the floor was a little black. I looked inside his mouth and there was partial of his teeth left in his mouth.

Our yard is mostly dead grass with few tufts of green here and there. It is about 10 x 20 feet off a patio. It is our dogs' potty place. But lately it has begun to stink to high heaven. We clean up the droppings daily but the urine smell is horrible. We watered it (we live in the desert and don't get much rain) but that seemed to make it worse. Any suggestions.

She had ruined two beds and today chewed a corner off of a blanket. We put multiple toys, rawhide bones, and treats in there and she has plenty of room to move around but she still ruins things. Obviously she has separation anxiety and is doing this for spite but I don't trust her to roam while we are away. I hate to just leave her in there on the plastic and want to keep her comfy but she is leaving us no choice. We don't want her to choke on something. Help!

There are four of them and one of them i can cup in my hand...thats how big the one is. The biggest one has went down in size a bit. I am concerned and I don't know what it is....I thought it was from my other dog biting him but now that he has more than one, I don't know. The vet said he could do some tests but he's not sure...it was a waste of a visit...if anyone could tell me that would be great!!!
