just go and see the vet as the puppy needs to be checked out for other things anyway. also, tell your vet the puppy's age and your vet will advice you on what to do and when to come back for the shots.
i just want to say that what you did was a very nice thing.....many animals are just abandoned by their owners and it is people like you and those who rescue animals that are doing so much for those poor animals.

I work for a vet and I see this sorrta thing all the time. The shoot will still work and it won't cause any problems for her. But tell the vet to check her for everything to make sure she has no illnesses already because she could and you may not even know it. Do you know where the neighboors went to? Because they should be in trouble for that thats not right to just leave your pet alone with no food or water and never return.

There could be a problem if she already has a disease - the vet should advise you, there are some vets on line, but you need to google for them.
Thank you for taking this puppy. I have a rescued puppy myself, but got it through an orgainzation. If you have the same luck, you will have the most loving puppy.

No, your puppy should be fine, and may I say congratulations and good on you for saving the poor thing.
Ten weeks old is usually when I suggest starting the puppy shots, and you realy aren't that far behind. He/ She is still too young for a good many shots, including rabies.

Since she is getting started on her shots late it won't affect her health in anyway. He will probably want to make sure she gets 3-4 sets of puppy shots and then a booster when she is 1 yr. old, then a yearly booster every year. Hope she has been wormed, poor thing. I have several dogs and its a full time job keeping them groomed and everything else up to date. I do all my shots, wormings, dew claw removal and tail docking myself.

no not at alll. the sooner the better, but much better than none at all. your vet will reccomend how many times she needs to come in for further vaccines and when to set up a time to have her spayed. good for you for taking this pup in and giving her a caring home!
