The link below is a support group of people with dogs that have Addison's disease. They may be able to help you with the treatments that are cheaper, but still work.

There is a Yahoo chat group for owners of dogs with Cushing's disease and with other auto-immune related conditions (including Addison's). There are a lot of members who are going through similar problems (and subsequent treatments) with their dogs; I bet that somebody will be able to give you some helpful advice. They seem to know *everything* in regard to these disorders -- including the best and most affordable treatment options.

It's a moderated board, so you need to get permission from the moderator to join. You won't have any problems. Just follow the "join this group" procedures, at the website (you'll need to send a brief note to the moderator, asking to join -- tell her that your dog has Addison's). Here is a link to the group:

Best of luck to you and to your dog!

Canine Addison's group on YahooGroups:

http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/k9Addisons/

"k9Addisons is a support and information list for those with canine companions afflicted by Addisons Disease.
Addisons Disease is a very manageable condition in dogs, and our goal is to provide you with as much information as possible to keep your Addisonian dog healthy and happy."

Looks like a very active group with a good membership, which will hopefully offer you some help.

Good luck... I did some research on Addison's when we were trying to determine if our dog had Cushing's (the opposite end of the spectrum) and it can be a damn scary disease.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com and look for a dog health group, or dog disease group. Among the members you are sure to find someone with a dog that has the same condition. Yahoo has a vast number of groups, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding someone there.
