My dog is 1yr4months old. I recently noticed that his one tooth was missing. It was partially missing. The tooth that I found on the floor was a little black. I looked inside his mouth and there was partial of his teeth left in his mouth.

Yes it's normal. He is probably getting in his adult dog teeth in. Just like a kid loses their baby teeth dogs do too.

Does his breath smell bad? He may have rotten teeth and they are falling out. It is not normal at all for adult dogs to lose their teeth. I know for a fact that small dogs have tooth problems and it's a good idea to brush their teeth. At 2yrs old if you haven't been doing that, I'd say he needs to have his teeth cleaned and examined by a vet. It will probably cost about 350.00, but a lot of places give discounts during Feb for pet dental month. If you don't take care of this and it is rotten teeth, the bacteria can cause serious health problems like heart murmurs and kidney disease. After you have his teeth professionally cleaned you can start brushing them yourself and if you do it every day, you most likely won't have to keep paying to have it done. It's not all that big of a deal I brush my cat's teeth and all 3 of my dogs (2 toy poodles & a yorkie ) every day with a battery operated spin brush too.

You need to have the remaining piece of tooth removed by a vet immediatly. A broken tooth can become infected and kill your dog.
At 1 yr your dog would not still be losing baby teeth.
The whole tooth comes out BTW not just a piece.
Get to the vet.

No this isn't normal. You need to take him to the vet. He is going to need to have the rest of that tooth removed (surgery). While they are in there, they can see if he has any other problems with his teeth. If your dog is this young and loosing teeth in this manner, you are going to need to be diligent in brushing his teeth and providing things for him to chew on.

Yes, dogs get gum disease and cavities, same as we do. No doubt your dog needs some dental work. How would you like to go around with a toothache and not be able to say, "hey I need a dentist! Take me to the vet!"
