My Husband and I live in a small townhouse and I would love to have a black lab, although my husband suggests that we wait until we have a house with a backyard. Any suggestions with a compromise?? :) Additionally, I love to take long walks and I realize that these breeds need lots of exercise!! :)

Since you have already had one, I think that you can decide easily whether or not he will be coomfortable living with you. Tell your husband some specifics about how you will handle the dog's needs. I think he may see that you know what you are talking about and will agree with you.
Things to decide...
Where will he sleep?
Where will he stay during the day?
Will he go to obedience school?
Will neighbours complain?

P.S. I previously answered one of your other questions, and you asked me what a BOB was.
PLEASE don't thing I am being bad or anything, but BOB is what woman back in Canada call a "battery operated boyfriend".
Sorry for adding that one in to the last list. I know it was a little silly, but one of the women I know told me about it one day, and I got quite a laugh over it. (Later, of course. I would never do that in front of a lady.)

Labs are great. Did you know though, that Labs don't lose their puppy mentality until the age of 2, sometimes 3 years old? That's a long time to deal with puppy behavior, especially in a town house.

Other then that, a lot of exercise and free play time are a must for this breed.

Mine is a barker. At EVERYTHING that dares to come near her house. I can quiet her easliy when we're home, but lord only knows what she's like when we're gone. We took to covering the front window with a sheet across the bottom so that she can't even see out anymore. It helps to keep her quiet (at least when we're home).

ADDED...oops, didn't realize that you have experience with Labs. Sorry.
