He has been crying for the passed few days when we put him in the cage: obviously natural behavior. But until today, his cries could actually be identified as a dog's. As of today, his screams sound so extremely strained, high pitch. It looks painful for him to scream.
We noticed that he has been coughing today, too on and off. Maybe there is something in his throat? He has no trouble eating, drinking or breathing so maybe he strained his voice? Help?

Why are you still on your computer? Passed few days? Take him to the vet!!! There could be something very wrong with him and time could be critical!

Where did you buy your puppy?
There is a virus that dogs can get that is called Kennel Croup.Found quite often where there is a large number of dogs/puppies kept together.
This will definately change a dogs bark/cry.
You will need to take the pup to the vet to get medicine/shots for this in order to clear it up or it can get worse.
Keep the pup warm. . .no baths, watch for fever and get the pup to the vet.

We had a similar probelm with out dog and took her to the vet and all the vet said was she did strain her voice cause she barks and howels alllllll the time...he looked at her and stuff but that is all he said about her. But to be on the safe side for your dog you might want to take him into the vet...good luck
