She had ruined two beds and today chewed a corner off of a blanket. We put multiple toys, rawhide bones, and treats in there and she has plenty of room to move around but she still ruins things. Obviously she has separation anxiety and is doing this for spite but I don't trust her to roam while we are away. I hate to just leave her in there on the plastic and want to keep her comfy but she is leaving us no choice. We don't want her to choke on something. Help!

She did not do this up until 2 weeks ago and we have had her a little over a month.

How long is she being left alone in the crate? If it's more than 3-4 hours regularly, then your dog needs another solution than just a crate. A crate is not a substitute for proper care and is not a long term babysitter. If she's left home for longer than 3-4 hours, then either get her into a doggie day care or hire a pet sitter to come in a walk her a few times a day.
If she does it ANY time she's left in a crate, then simply remove the objects that she destroys. An hour in a crate without a bed isn't going to hurt her.

I'd buy some of the puppy teething biscuits. It sounds like she's chewing because she's teething.
Another suggestion, that takes much longer to deal with is to help her learn to stay in her crate well behaved. You start with 15 minutes. After 15 minutes of no chewing (have nothing but blanket in crate) with you out of sight, she comes out and you praise her and give a treat or a good play time. You do this 3-4 times then increase the time to 30 minutes. And so on. Eventually she'll learn that if she's in her crate without chewing she gets a treat from you and she won't chew any more.

She needs to have a very long walk before you put her in her crate. If she has pent up energy she's going to wreck stuff! A Beagle has lots of energy and will be destructive if you don't tire her out with walks. If you don't walk her and you keep putting her in there with no bedding or toys she will start to chew on herself and her personality will be ruined because she will become whiny and snappy. Please get into the habit of a long walk before going to work!
And by the way...a dog NEVER does anything for spite, they are always trying to tell you something!

For now, give her a rawhide bone, but nothing else in her crate. She's bored and anxious and taking it out on her blanket. Once she gets used to the situation, she'll settle down and you can give her little treats, a bed, etc. Another thing to try is peanut butter inside of a kong - this will keep her busy for a long time and keep her mind off her worries.

have you been leaving her in her crate longer than u did two weeks ago. also anxiety can be caused by seperation. some dogs dont like to be left alone. another reason is she could be bored beagles are a high energy dog and love to do things like dig chase and track. try leaving her with some toys like nyla bones and kongs. nothing with stuffing cause if shes chewing she could eat the stuffing causeing a trip to the vet and surgry to remove it. so if youro be leaving her alone and this doesnt stop try getting a pet sitter or doggie day care. I baby sit two goldens with speration anxiety but they dont destroy anything when someone is there to entertain them.

This is a humane way to stop your beagle from chewing blankets and her bed. Put sour apple flavoring on a blanket or somthing, they sell the spray at pet stores. When she tastes the spray she will not like the taste. Eventually, she'll stop chewing on it altogether. Maybe she'll hate the taste enough she will not chew on blankets anymore even with out the spary just in fear of the sour taste.

Dogs don't do things "for spite" - they are not capable of this. Take those beds out of her crate, and don't give her bedding to tear up. When she's older whe'll outgrow this, especially if she isn't allowed to rehearse this behavior when she's a baby. Separation anxiety does not mean that your dog is spiteful, it means that she is fearful. Do a search on Google for this - your dog will thank you.

my beagle and my other 2 mutts love to chew on cow hooves-you can buy a bag of 10 at petsmart or petco-they last way longer than rawhide and the dogs like them better-your dog is just a puppy and is probably teething-and also dogs that age tear stuff up--you have to teach her the "leave it" command-and then when she gets older, it gets better.

sounds like she is in her crate to long and she is bored. the spray will work but l would not like to lay around on something that sticks or taste funny and that would be the same way your dog would feel. you can leave the blanket out of the crate. if she is in where it is warm, she will not need one. but l really think she is in the crate to long and that is her way of letting her disappointments out

Beagles are hunting dogs, they shouldn't be in a crate. I had one once and will never have one again. Too much energy to be locked up.
