The vet told me that since he was tested and on heartworm medication, he wouldn't have to be tested again. Then, I took in an unwanted pup that was on heartworm medication and had been but the new vet I took him to said that he still had to be tested. I asked why, since he was on preventative from the very beginning, and that another vet had told me that as long as they were on preventative medications, they wouldn't have to be tested, and if they were given pills to prevent heartworm and they did have it, it could kill them. Mine are both healthy. Why would the new vet insist on testing them again?

I have a black lab dog who is three and just recently other dogs usually bitches have been aggressive towards him for no reason, does any one have any explanation for this. He still has his 'you no whats' as I have no reason to get him done. He is very laid back and a big softie! Could his hormones be given out the wrong message to the ladies? He doesn't act interested in that way though! I feel sorry for him getting picked on!

If so, what did you use it for, and did it help your dog?

Since most of you don't advocate animal cruelty in any form, or even ear-cropping or tail-docking (by licensed vetrenarians) in the least -- citing things like: "it's mutilation of the dog and very painful", Then my question is, why do you then advocate getting your dog "fixed", seeing that it's mutilating the dog's genitals, and an even MORE painful and uncomfortable experience for the dog than getting ears cropped? Incidently, I've got my pit bulls both fixed, and ears cropped, and I'm curious as to why most of you assert that any form of "dog mutilation" is bad -- while advocating canine genital mutilation? My dogs were in alot more pain after being spayed than when I had their ears cropped.

It seems when I go out or let her have a bit more freedom in the house she poops on the beds, furniture or the floor. The other night she was let out and did her business and just 2 hours later she pooped on the floor while I was upstairs and she was down stairs with my husband. She is 8 months old.

someone gave me a 2 yr female akita and immediately she and my 10 month male australian shephard began butting heads. they go at it like two wolves you see on national geographics.

i always keep one in a 20 ft cage so they dont hurt each other. but they still try to bite each other through the cage.

the problem is both are around 80 pounds each so it's hard for me to seperate them when they are fighting. i spray water and smack their behinds but they just turn around to try to bite me. which is scary cause they have huge teeth.

the aussie has been nothing but sweet and submissive to me since he was 2 months old but he actually tried to bite me when i tried to stop the fight.

so what can i do to make them get along?

someone asked me if I would be interested in studing out my dog. He is an Unregistered, Full-Blood Dachshund, He's about 14 lbs, Long Haired shaded red. He will probably carry for red dapple, long hair and red pups.
He was a product of our oldest dachshunds only litter with my sister-in-laws dachshund.

My questions are:
1) how much should I charge in a stud fee?
2) how does the whole thing work? Who goes where?
3) what happens if the female doesn't take?
4) do I have to take a pick of the litter pup?

any help would be great!!! Thanks....I'm not 100% sure if I want to stud my dog out yet...just doing research!

Hello. Ive decided to do it. (i think...) Im going to tie her to the tree when it gets a lil warmer and stops raining. Hopefully that will be sometime next week. I just have one question. I dont want to be out late at night so i will leave her sometime after the Humane Society closes....but you guys have all made me fell bad im not that sure if i wanna do it. Im not a "evil person" this dog is just really really really annoying. My 1st dog is sweet, nice and calm. So i must be do something right. Anyways *** all the ppl who were rude to me!!!

oh ya my question. What would happen if i brought her inside. What would they do if i didn't want to give my name?

im having 2nd thought b/c my 1st dog loves the puppy and i dont want to make her sad... :(

The vet stated that I should make a decision regarding putting my dog down. He won't eat by himself, but he will get up once in awhile. He is only about 6 years old. I don't see any signs of great pain, but he is obviously suffering. How do I know when the suffering is at the point where I should put him down? Is the death horrible if I just let nature take it's course? Difficult time for me and I need help. Thanks

I have a Basenji-mix, and she can't seem to decide whether to chase my four cats or to nuzzle them and stick her nose in their ears. She also play-bows to them and tries to get them to chase her -- is that typical?
