Well, if you muzzle him...he sure won't bite anybody. Not sure that's the best option, however...

Consult an animal behaviorist. Spanking a dog is rarely, if never, a good idea. Know that aggression breeds aggression. While muzzling a dog may keep you from getting bit, it ultimately does nothing to solve what the real issue is that the dog is having. And it will probably erk the dog more having it on. Some muzzles can be very painful also. Protect yourself and other people of course. But consult a behaviorist who can zone in on why the dog is acting out in the first place. You're treating the symptoms by muzzling, not solving the problem. It is not a long term answer.
And it doesn't matter what size the dog is. You can still lose a finger if the bite goes through the bone. I have personally seen it happen. My friend was in the hospital for four days. He is a groomer and was bit.
Also, avoiding the situation doesn't help anything either. It will only make the dog's anxiety and frustration worse. But obviously you want to keep everyone, including the dog, safe. Please consult a behaviorist.

A muzzle will help but may not stop the problem. If you decide to use a muzzle use it on a regular schedule so that it is not seen as punishment but as a training aid. If your pup is smart you may want him fitted for a muzzle exactly his size. Dogs tend to find a way out of a situation they don't like! I actually had a dog figure out how to get his muzzle off! Train your pup to right and wrong and don't use spanking. I know it is hard not too but he will respond aggressively to violence. Even if you are spanking him lightly it is still seen as aggression to him. Don't discipline with your hands. Use a spray bottle of water/vinegar to deter bad behavior. You want him to always respond positive to your hands. If his biting continues you can take him to the vet and ask the vet the best treatment for nervousness in you pup. He can prescribe meds or offer advice that I don't know about! LOL good luck!

I don't think wearing a muzzle will teach him not to bite- it might just aggravate him. Try putting him on a Gentle Leader ( which is like a loose muzzle you use to take your dog for a walk) and having him on a leash for a while and whenever he tries to bite, give him a light pull with the leash. You can find one at your local pet store.

Well to tell you the truth the muzzle doesn't do that much. What you should do is keep it in a seperate room so it can't bite anyone because you do not want to keep the muzzle on him/her all day because that is really bad for a dog and that won't teach them anything.

Well it sounds like YOU need to go to a dog trainer.
Being small does not excuse a dog or a dog owner from proper dog training.
If this were a 145 pound rottweiler doing the same thing when YOU went to visit it's owner, YOU would freak out and call the police.
Right back at ya sister. A bite from a small dog or a big dog is STILL a dog bite and it is INEXCUSABLE from any pet.
Get to a proper dog trainer before you take your biter out near ANY human beings again.

Get a professional trainer and work on the agression and don't give him the chance to bite. Get a muzzle and keep him under control.

don't show him that you are afraid of him, stand right back and keep your ground. mine will snap at me and I just take her under the chin and say no, she has not bit me yet. good luck., but if you want to put a muzzle on her or him go ahead , but only when she tries to bite, other wise leave it off.

A muzzle may aggravate him even more. I recommend some sort of training.
