someone asked me if I would be interested in studing out my dog. He is an Unregistered, Full-Blood Dachshund, He's about 14 lbs, Long Haired shaded red. He will probably carry for red dapple, long hair and red pups.
He was a product of our oldest dachshunds only litter with my sister-in-laws dachshund.

My questions are:
1) how much should I charge in a stud fee?
2) how does the whole thing work? Who goes where?
3) what happens if the female doesn't take?
4) do I have to take a pick of the litter pup?

any help would be great!!! Thanks....I'm not 100% sure if I want to stud my dog out yet...just doing research!

1. I don't know what the going rate is, but being unregistered it won't be much.
2. The females should be brought to your place.
3. You need to write up a contract explaining what to do if the dog doesn't catch. Also don't send the female home until you have a vet perform a positive pregnancy test on her. That way if she goes home bred, then a week later the owner calls up and says she's open you can make her pay for a rebreed instead of having to breed her again for free.
4. The puppies will be the female dog's onwer's, so that shouldn't have anything to do with you.

If your male is unregistered than there is no reason you should be studding him out at all. Whoever asked you too is obviously a backyard breeder, just trying to make money. If thats all they're in it for, how do you know they have done the proper testing needed before breeding? For all you know their female could have brucellosis, a doggie std. Please dont encourae this person to breed.

Irresponsible.

Go to a shelter and hang out for a day. Then come back the next day to see which dogs have been executed.

Then think about spaying/neutering your dogs.

Ahh...you have no valid reason to breed your dog. He's not been proven that he up to breed standard, or that he has any working ability. Thousands of dumb people like you breed their dogs every year, and therefore we have millions of dogs dying shelters every year.
