This is not a question, more of a plea! If your dog has epilepsy PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE visit darleen@purelypets.com!
Last week i made the dreaded appointment to have my dog put to sleep. He was having fits daily and not just one!My vet could not get them under control,as a last resort i contacted the above and am i glad i did?
In the first 2 days he didn't fit and has only had 2 fits in a week!!!!
He is making progress every day and is much stronger now,we are now very slowly reducing his medication and so far so good. I should point out that he is on a massive dose of Phenobarbitone and Gentrex, the Phenobarbitone is very hard on the Liver and Kidneys and can cause real damage to these organs.
PLEASE VISIT THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!!!

My friends thinks his dog might have joint pains or hip dysplasia who knows... the dog has an appointment tomorrow for x-rays, it all started when the dog was limping out of the blue about 4months ago then it will go and come back then wouldn’t get up and was struggling to do anything, but then they took it to the vet they gave him pain killers for the dog they didn’t do a x-ray at the time cause the vet said to see how he goes on the pain killers and if there’s no signs of improvement then to bring him in but the dog was better within a day running around so no need to go vet or take the tablets anymore, but now 4months later my friend said his dog wont move its in pain but then moves again like nothing happen but still struggles to pick stuff off the floor (could be neck pain) and when I seen the dog today it looked fine but looked pretty stiff at the back legs and front

I've wanted a dachshund for years now. Recently I did a research on them, and I found a site that said that dacshunds are prone to spinal problems, slipped discs, and they cant climb stairs, or jump up on anything without a high risk of spinal injury.

Is this true? or is it just what *could* happen years down the road? If you have (or know anyone who has) a dachshund, what type of problems (if any) have you experienced with it? Do you have to baby it more than other dogs? Any information would be helpful, thanks!

Many family breeders have lovely, healthy purebred puppies. Most family breeders only breed one type of dog, a breed that they enjoy themselves and the pups are raised with the family.

People often say there are behavioral and health problems with teacup yorkies but I want to hear from someone who actually owns or owned a teacup yorkie and how their experience was like. Thanks :)

One of my main gripes is that they supposedly cannot afford the vet , but hey they must have some extra money for the Internet cause they are on here!!! Making the decision to get a pet should not be taken lightly, and you should really think about it and make sure you will ALWAYS be able to provide the animal with basic care, food, water, shelter, medical care, for the rest of its life. If someone had a sick child and could not afford a doctor visit, their first option would NOT be to just dump it at a shelter like some do with pets. We foster rescue animals and some of the reasons for owner surrender (got too big for house, had to move, allergic)etc. BLOW my mind. Do your research, if your house cannot handle a dog over a certain size, do not get a large breed pup. If it is from a shelter and you cannot tell the breed, take it to the vet before adoption and get his opinion on how big it will be at full growth. And if you are allergic, why get the pet to begin with! Share your opinion

Normally, I would say this form of pet containment is cruel. But after adoping my husky I've begun to look at it in a different light. My husky is an escape artist. She is able to jump my backyard fence in a single bound. And, she does it right in front of me sometimes. And, when she gets out, she will NOT listen to any commands, and will not come back. So when in the backyard I have to keep her on a chain (a long one). I want her to be able to run free and play in the backyard, but I'm afraid of her getting loose and getting hurt... or running away.

So, how effective are electric fences? All opinions or alternative suggestions welcome.

Additional info: She has completed basic obedience. She listens to commands and is a good dog... unless she gets out... then it's all over. She gets regular walks... and plenty of attention.

The Presa De Canario (Spanish Mastiff I think). As a breed what are they like? How do they compare in personality/temperament, size etc to other mastiffs? Any reasons why they may not mix with other dogs? Any advice appreciated.

We adopted a young, female German-Shepherd mix who is being very aggressive with our older female Basset Hound, especially when treats or food is involved. The Basset does nothing to defend herself and just lets the Shepherd have her way with her.

I don't want to leave them alone, but that's not fair to leave a dog inside all day. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm about ready to take the Shepherd to the Humane Society, but really want to do anything I can to help the situation.

I need suggestions on how to prepare a 5 year old for the death or probably "putting down" of his pet dog. We've had the dog his whole life. She is 14 and will go of natural causes soon, or have to be put down. If we have to put her down should I just honestly explain what and why we are doing this. Or, is a 5 year old young enough we should make up a "happy" story...if you will. I personally think that might not be a great idea. Thanks So Much
