You have to take her to the vet, blowing out a knee (if that's even what happened - can't tell without examination and x-ray) is a very serious thing. Most vets will work with you on payment set up if you are upfront about the issue and the medical problem is an emergency, which this is, but will require you to sign an agreement to pay a certain amount a month.
This is down right animal abuse if you don't take her in. Sorry to sound harsh, but if you blew out your knee you'd be in the hospital whether you could pay for it or not.
Please care about your pet and do the right thing......or give her to the humane society so she can get the treatment she needs.

You mentioned that you didn't have the money to take your dog to the vet. Your dog might can go without seeing a vet as long as the knee isn't swollen or your dog is not experiencing a lot of pain. It seems like your dog could be experiencing a little pain since she isn't putting pressure on the knee.
At home treatment if the knee isn't quite healed coul include wrapping a ace bandage on her leg to help immibilize it so it can heal correctly.
After it has healed you can then start with rehab. The swimming suggestion was a really good answer. A heated pool would be best. The warm water will help relax the muscles and plus your dog will like it better. The water helps with weightless excercise. You could also massage her leg or rub it gently to help the muscle out. It's a slow progress to regain muscle strength so make sure you don't push her to hard.
Good luck. Hope your girl feels better soon.

I don't mean to sound judgemental but I can't help it.What is wrong with you?Get the dog to the vet NOW!!!!!!!!!!She needs an x-ray to determine if she's chipped or cracked a bone.
If you broke your arm you'd be in the emergency room but since it's the dog "Oh well-Too bad.?"
Get a loan if you have to.If you've stayed up on your dogs vet visits they may very well allow you to make payments. But if you've let this go this long you're better off going to a title loan place or using your tax refund on the dog.If those are not an option then I believe you most likely have a nice selection of video games and other electronics you could carry to the nearest pawn shop.

Please take her to the vet .We foster rescue dogs and neither our family or any other foster family has EVER been turned down vet services for financial reasons. Here is what to do: Go to your vet and be honest about how much if any you can put down.and how often , how much you can make payments. Most are happy with five dollars a week, just so the dog gets help and the owner is making an effort. If your vet will not do this, get a copy of your dogs med records from them. Hit the yellowpages and make a list of ALL vets/animal hospitals in your area, Go to them, tell them your situation and all the payment info you told to your vet and believe me, you will find at least one willing to do it. Also, try ASPCA,Humane Society, or any private animal rescue/rights groups. One of the things our group does is help pet owners whose only problem is financial (no abuse, etc) by going with the pet owner to the vet to arrange payment plans AND by helping to pay for the treatment. Any one who works/volunteers in this field will do ANYTHING they can to help you and your dog. Dont be ashamed of your situation either, everyone goes thru rough times. Also, contact German Shepard Rescue Groups. A lot of times they will help with this sort of thing, simply so the dog does not suffer or end up in a shelter. I dont know where you are located but there is a good one in Urbana,IL called CIGSD. They have a website. It stands for Central Illinois German Shepard Dog Rescue. You can get a list of such orgs by typing in something like "german shepard rescue your state". Know this didnt answer the rehab at home ? but honestly I just dont think that is an option, sorry. Hope this helped and if you live in sw Indiana, contact us and we will help you. GOOD LUCK

Did the vet diagnose a ruptured ACL on this dog? Apply for a Care Credit card and take this dog to an orthopedic vet! It has been found that ACL repairs can make the ligament stronger than it was before. She will probably end up with severe arthritis if this is left untreated. Imagine what you would do if this was you with a ruptured ACL and not your dog! Would you suffer and hobble around? I think not! Take her to the vet and get this fixed!

call every vet in the phone book and find one that will take payments, or find an organization who provides medical care at little or no cost. if you cannot do either of these, ask a friend or family member if you can borrow the $. your pets medical care is just as important as yours. if you can find no way of taking her to the vet, you should maybe consider finding her a new home with owners who are financially able to care for her. i am not trying to be mean or anything, i would do the same if i were in your situation because i love my dog enough that if i could find no way to get her the medical care she urgently needed as it sounds as if yours does i would rather lose her to a more financially stable home than to keep her and let her suffer. I'm sorry, i know that is not what you wanted to hear, please just do whatever it takes to get her to the vet.

You should take her to the vet and have it looked at. You may not have a choice but to have the surgery done. Your dog may not understand what rehab is or what she needs to do.
Though a question for you....if you blew your knee out, wouldn't you have to have the surgery done ASAP? You should consider having it done ASAP for your pup. It may only get worse instead of better.
If you have pet insurance, that would help bring down the cost of the surgery. If you don't have insurance, talk to your vet and see if you could work out a payment plan.

If you love this dog, please get in touch with any local German Shepherd rescues, the SPCA, or Humane Society in your area and surrender this dog to them so she can get proper treatment.
It is not fair to your dog to have to suffer needlessly just because you don't have the money to take her to the vet. This is something that needs to be taken care of by a qualified veterinarian, and she should have been treated by a vet right away when this first happened to avoid further injury, pain and suffering. This is not something a lay person like you can "fix". You're just causing your dog to suffer needlessly.
Please sign her over to an organization that can care for her.

She really needs to be seen by a vet and at least have the injury examined. Then the vet can tell you if you can passively treat it, perhaps by immoblizing with a splint or does the dog need aggressive treatment such as surgery.
The longer you wait, the more likely the injury won't be fixable and the dog could develop severe arthritis in the joint.

You should not have a dog if you cant afford medical bills. Would you leave yourself in that state or your child if you had one? She may have hip dysplasia, a broken leg, dislocation, infection. Face it your dog needs a vet but she cant tell you, she wont put pressure on it cause it hurts to damn much. Get the poor thing some help, please! Borrow the money, and find work to pay it off. Give the pooch a hug for me..
