My Lab is just uncontrollable right now. She jumps up on the tables and counters, she eats everything in site - and will even pull knives, forks, etc out of the sink. I have hurt my knee so I am having a hard time training her. I want to try to hire someone to come and train her or have her dropped off to train. Does anyone know of a reputable place in the chicagoland area where they do that? Also- even if your not in Chicago have you done that and did it work? Thank you

...just stops, sits down and stares at the sky, oblivious to me. He just looks around, calmly, like he's in a trance and doesn't want to be bothered. he won't budge until he's ready, about 3-5 minutes after his meditation, or whatever it is. It's rather funny. Do you think he migh be a reincarnated monk or something?

I have recently started to breed and just want to know what people would like to see in the breed? Is it just standard or just a big rott? Would you like to see a new more muscular rottie? well voice your opinion.

However her blood results and culture of urine are normal and she is not loseing weight. has any one else had a dog with these symptoms? Does any one know what the prognosis is likely to be. My vet seems perplexed as yesterday she had gained weight rather than loosing it which was expected. She is drinking a lot and passing a lot of urine - daily in the house (have bought mats!) but otherwise seems fine ???

Lately our dog,3 yrs old) has been carrying around this orange squeeky toy alien. If you tell her to go get her baby, she does. Last night it looked like she was trying to nurse it. What is going on?

I have a 7 wk old Golden Retriever. She's in no pain, she plays, and runs and jumps without any problem. I noticed it yesterday when she was outside, so I thought she was cold. Then my daughter noticed it today while inside. It seems to be only her left leg. It's almost like a twitching.

My 6 yr old Dobe would have completely destroyed over 15 pairs of slippers, several carpets and over 50 Balls!!! I have always corrected her by talking to her sternly and keeping her in seclusion for some time. Nothing has worked so far and she continues her destructive work. This is especially in the mornings and its so frustrating to see everything in bits and pieces as I wake up and enter the pantry. Any suggestions???

I have a service dog who has outgrown his training harness that was off the shelf and he needs a new one. I am making his new one from kangaroo leather with a nylon core. It will be based on the web master harness from ruff wear.

I was wondering if anyone had made their own harness before and had any tips for a newbie. I have worked with leather and nylon with success. This is my biggest project yet and have done my research.
I have a proper sewing machine. I will be riveting the joints and using brass hardware. I am planning on padding with foam and lambs skin. Can anyone suggest options for foam and is lamb's fleece my best choice?

Any ideas would be appreciated. I want to do the best job I can. I have included a link to the type of harness and the type of leather for reference.

I am really nervous about the operation. I am afraid she won't survive the anastetic or the operation. I don't know why I am so scared. She is my best friend, she is the best puppy anyone could ask for. She has never been alone since I got her at 8 weeks. When I try to leave her for a few minutes (so she will get use to being alone at times) she runs out the door and sits and waits for me! I am lucky that I am allowed to bring her to work with me. Has anyone else ever been worried, please share your experience with me. Please be serious, don't need people telling me to grow up, get over it, etc..I love my puppy very much and am worried. I don't want her to suffer or be in pain..is the operation safe, will she suffer? Thanks in advance for all who care to answer :)

my 17 year old cocker spaniel just passed away and i am really sad and mad that she couldn't live to grow old with me. i know 17 years is a long time for a dog, but the longer she lived, the harder i knew it would be to let her go....it sucks!!!

We have a doggy ramp leading up to the bed. The older one has started growling, barking and trying to block the younger from coming up the ramp at night. Now if she has to go outside (doggy door) at night, she will sleep on the floor instead of trying to get in the bed. Last night the older one attacked the smaller younger one. Sounded as though she was going to chew her up. Both dogs have been inside and have slept on the bed as long as we have had them. During the day, they lay side by side, and run and play together. The younger one had pancreatitis a couple of months ago, and as a result of several trip to the Vet's, has not wanted to go with us to run quick errands in our cars. I have taken the older one by herself on some short trips with me recently, which I never did before. Both used to love getting to go.
This is the only change of any type that has happened. What's going on?

On my way to work there is this disgusting, dirty house that has no less than a half a dozen dogs tied up with enormous chains to trees outside. These dogs are out there all day and I'm assuming all night (I've left my job quite late and they're always out there). These dogs have no shelter except for ripped pieces of carpet to lay on (which are completely rotten after being out in the rain and snow), and I've never spotted them with water (they're obviously getting some somewhere or they'd all be dead, but it isn't at their disposal). They are out there in all weather conditions, which here range from snow and sleet to 115 degrees in the summer. I had heard somewhere that a new law stated dogs could not be chained up for more than a certain amount of hours a day? Is this a state by state thing? I'm just tired of seeing them there every single day (and I do plan on calling someone on them).
