My dog is biting off her hair on her tail and under it,and we always find hair in her crate. My mom thinks its the shampoo that is making her do that and I dont know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Try using a hypoallergenic shampoo. Make sure to rinse well.

Other than that, there are all sorts of things that can be causing this. You need to consult with a vet.

Try letting her out of the crate to run around, she might be streesed out about being in a small enclosed area. Also change shampoos. If this still keeps going on after that try drsfoster&smith.com because she may be itchy and they have stuff to help that, they also have great shampoos and conditioners.
Good Luck

I would definitely go to the vet, but it may not be a medical problem. I had a yellow lab that would constantly lick and chew on her right front paw. Eventually it developed into an open sore. The vet said that it was mental/behavioral and there was nothing medically wrong with her. In short, your dog may simply be bored.

Regardless if it's fleas, shampoo allergy, skin disease, eczema (which is what my poodle had when she bit off her hair on her rear end)...none of us can tell what YOUR dog has. So a trip to the vet is neccessary. My chow chow had trouble last summer, vet trip cost me $81 (total) but cleared her up within two weeks! What a beautiful dog she is b/c I took her to the vet. Her vet prescribed allergy medication (pill form), steriod taken in pill form & prescription shampoo. Good luck and YES, it was worth every penny!

Summer is coming so it could be flees or ticks better take your dog to the vet and if it found to be flees you better clean her crate because ticks would be hiding in it

She may have clogged anal glands which is very painful. A visit to the vet is probably needed.
