I have 2 black labs. One has just turned 1, the other is 13 weeks. The older one always stayed in our bed. The younger one we put in a crate at night and she barked non-stop (with a barkcollar on!)
So my husband thought she's be happier with us in bed too. Naturally enough she loves it. Is this healthy?
We're a young couple with 2 dogs in our bed, but they're used to it now and don't want to stay anywhere else. Also, I get up every night at 3am to let her out. I've tried feeding her at 5pm, 8pm,10pm.....but still she wants to get up at all hours and I have to get up and take her. I like my sleep! Please advise.

What's your opinions? Our German Shephard will chase the barn cats and bark at/chase our horses. We like to keep him off the leash when we take him to our country farm (GREAT EXERCISE!), and I have worked on him healing by my side when I'm out doing chores. But, there are times when he leaves my side to "speak" to the barn cats or our horses (all the animals are our's, so there's no worry of our dog bothering other people's livestock and pets). When the dog finally bit one of our horses on the nose, and when another turned to kick at the dog, we thought that "enough was enough." Leash is out of the question. Tying up to a tree defeats the exercise purpose. So, we purchased a shock collar. I must admit, I hated the idea, but it has been VERY effective. Now, our dog responds to the simple tone- we don't use the shock component anymore!

Opinions???

I am wondering what is an ideal breed of dog for me do you think?

I like small dogs I could put in a carrier bag if needed so about 10 pounds or less.
Like them to cuddle but can also play rough.
Is not yippy.
Ages well with health and looks.
& cute..

Stephen Fry stated that humans are the only ones to look where you point and that all other animals just look at your finger. My dogs look, and/ or go where I point. ( Episode of QI).

I'm going to start off by saying I have had my dog for 8 years well this past week she has been acting very weird towards me mostly just whining alot, folling me everywhere and she's usually not like this, usually she's all over my husband but she has not been wanting to go around him.. Me and my husband came home from a day out and she was up my a** and licking me frantically, she would lick my husband though then when she was licking me she started humping the air and when i moved away she started whining really loud..I mind you in the 8 years we have had her she has never ever done something like this..
She just had her period 3-4 months befor hand so i know she was not in heat.
Also i was not around any other dogs/cats..
Anybody ever experienced with with their dogs or knows why she is doing this????

He's 2 years old we got him fixed and he gets lots of exersize. He wont do it when we are in the yard with him but if left alone he is over the fence and into the neighbors yard and several other yards. He is freindly enough but is not trusting of strangers and will growl when approched which is very off putting for the neighbors. No bites yet thank goodness.

I have a 12 month old bullmastiff who despite all measures to stop, she will just not learn. She sleeps in the kitchen and almost EVERY morning I will wake up to something or BOTH. I will do the very basic things like rub her nose in it when she does (and she knows 'cause she "sulks") and give her treats when she does it outside. But I am clean out of ideas, this is urgent as I have a baby on the way and of course faeces on the floor is NOT a good thing, I don't want to get rid of her but family comes first, so this is my last resort. She will rarely do it in front of us (unless shes desperate I guess) she went through a phase of not doing anything for like 3-4 days but then done a complete 180 and started again. Please Help Me!

I have 5 day old golden puppies. There are 11 of them and we have one runt. All the other puppies have almost doubled in size and he has not. I have been bottle feeding on occasion but he seems not to like it to well. Mostly I sit there with him and make sure he is eating off of mom and I have even noticed that he has started to do this on his own, but he still is very small and doesn't ever seem to have a belly full of milk like the others. Is the anything else I can do or is there possible something wrong with him?

I know about submissive peeing and excited peeing, but I don't think that is the case with my 7 month old puppy. When I come home, he is excited but never pees. But today, we were playing a game with the kitten and the puppy where they chase this little red bird thing. The puppy jumped up on the couch and just sat there. A few minutes later, I noticed he peed. He's never done that before. Then I saw a trail of pee by the back door. It looked like he was walking and peeing, and couldn't control it. It was in a long line.

My puppy is in his crate longer than he can hold it and unfortuantely I cannot let him out to avoid it.
The crate is not too big so that's not the problem.
Here are my options, which is best:

1.Just let him go in his crate until he can hold it and he will stop eventually.
2. take out the current divider and put a pee pee pad on the other side but will that habit carry on to the night and he will do that at night too? Currently he won't pee or poop in his kennel only during the day when we are gone.
3. install a raised floor so that if he does pee it will go to the bottom of the kennel and he wont lay in it?

He's very small 3.5lbs rite now so his pee is about a tablespoon at the moment.
He does not go in his kennel at night or when we are home.

I work at a dog groomers, and yesterday we had a German Shepherd come in that probably weighed twice what she should have. She was morbidly obese. I was doing her toenails, (I had to take about 3/4 of an inch off, and left about 3/4 of an inch that was all quick) and I noticed a horrific smell. She smelled like ear infection so bad I almost passed out. While I was bathing her I noticed her butt was EXTREMELY infected (obviously from SITTING in pee and poop almost nonstop). I cleaned her up and when we had her laying on the table to brush her, we lifted up her rear leg and between her fat rolls, her skin was literally ROTTING away. It was the most horrific thing I have ever seen. Unfortunately we are not allowed to turn people in for things we see at work. We are an upscale groomers and everyone there really cares for the animals. I was just wondering if any of the groomers you know or work for have that same rule, and if so, why?

My aunt had a pet dog(black in color, fierce in appearance) however after my aunt passed away, my mum told me the dog keep howling during the night which "maybe" he might seen my aunt spirit or he missed her.(rumors said dogs have six sense)

After 3 - 5days he passed away.Hes a healthy dog so its weird if hes sick or something which i doubt it.

So i hope can someone share their views or experience and will other pets have the same emotion as dogs do?such as cat or others? Thanks
