Just because the breeder gave you a time doesn't mean your vet will do it at 4 months of age. Some vets will do it as early as 8 weeks some make you wait till 6 months old. Call your vet and ask them when you should have it done. It is a very smart decion and I thank you for being a responsible pet owner.

Yes, that is too soon to fix your dog. Veterinarians will usually tell you to wait until your dog is at least 4 months old which would be May 1st. Some will say that they won't neuter a dog before it is 6 months old. Your best bet would be to call your veterinarian and ask them their recommendations.

Some people fix their pets as early as 8 weeks! I wait until mine pets are around 6 months before I take them in. Call and ask your vet what they recommend that should put your mind at ease!! Different vets say different things. While you have him on the phone ask why that age!! Good luck and great job on being responsible and not wanting to breed!!!

My vet and the breeder I bought my doxie from said 6 months is a good time to have it done.

It was an all-day process, and he didn't want to eat or be touched that night. He was obviously miserable, but the next day was business as usual for him. You would have never known. If you do it, I hope it's the same experience.

I've always heard 6 months old. But, to be sure, contact your vet and tell them what you've been told by the breeder vs. what he thinks.

The breeder may say 3 months so that spraying doesn't happen.

And kudos to the breeder for recommending neutering!

Usually it's best to have them done around 6 months of age. They have to go under anesthesia, and the older age makes it easier on them. If you wait too long after that, there may be difficulties in training, and the urge to run if they catch the smell of another dog.

That's for males. For females you wait until after they have their first heat.

Ask your vet. Most vets won't spay or neuter before the pup is 6 months old.

Vets usually recommend to get it done at about 6 months.

Some vets say as soon as they drop you can neuter. I neuter my dogs early that way I do not have to worry about them learning to mark territory. Ask your vet what he thinks, they will be glad to let you know.

You typically fix puppies around six months old so yes this would be too soon.
