For a girl mixed breed. She's black with a little bit of brown on her back and white on her paws. I don't know what she's mixed with though. I already have one dog named Ella but this name doesn't have to be similar to that.

In my life i have rescued many dogs, I have many stories, but one always stands out. Napoleon the Alaskan Husky (Note: Alaskan Huskies are NOT Siberian Huskies).
As an animal control officer you always have one dog that is your arch enemy. This dog was so wise and cleaver he would evade me and his owners at all costs. He could escape any fence, and chain, and any restraint. The owners and I would do everything but he could never be caught and eventually he would just head home when he was done frolicking. He was a pain in the butt outside of his home, but in it he was sweet, loving, and well mannered. His owners did all they could to be good owners and we never gave them a hard time. They had rescued Napoleon and his littermates from being buried alive by a owner/breeder that didnt want the extra dogs. One day he dissapeared, the owners called frantic he didnt come home as usual, the weeks went by and only a few sightings and tips came in, 3 months were gone and the owners gave..

Ok I have been laughing my butt off with some of the answers people have come up with when question is asked as to what kind of dog this is.
This is a quiz for all you out there that think they know thier dog breeds. The dog in this picture is a purbred, with a huge champion pedigree and a grandfather that was Best in Breed at a Westminster Club Show a few years back. He's my dog, but I am curious what people will say.
The winner of the Best Answer will be who ever is first, with
#1 Correct Breed
#2 Correct Coat Color
#3 Correct Coat Pattern
(or whoever comes closest!) GET READY.... GOOOO

Dose anyone know about this breed. I lost my Male Rott about 2 years ago at the age of 14. I am ready for a new family member now and wanted information from others about the breed. The lady we would be getting one from has been breeding these dogs in their family for 30 some years. The dog would be fixed as soon as possible, I do not want to breed just want a family dog. Also are male or females of this breed better for a family dog? Any insight would be great! Only answer if you truly know about this breed please. Thank you

Well, actually, his name is Gizmo. He's an 8 month old Papillon and he's adorable. But I'm registering him with the AKC and you're supposed to give them like a 3 word name. I don't know the names of the ***** or sire, so I can't use that. I just need something cute, possibly rhyming or using another "g". I know it's kinda stupid, but please help! lol

My Italian Greyhound puppy is eating the cat food. I can't get her to eat her puppy food. I am worried because she is not getting the right nutrients. I want her to grow up healthy. I have tried to keep her away, but that would mean confining the cats to the bedroom and that doesn't seem very fair to the cats.

How cute is this dog:
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7340459

But I already have a dog that my fiance doesn't like all that much and is allergic to (Candy the schnauzer mix is most likely hypo-allergenic cause it looks like she has the schnauzer coat). And he says he doesn't want me to get this dog b/c he really wants to get his OWN dog, and he ultimately doesn't want to have 3 dogs.

But I am a HUGE dog lover and would LOVE multiple dogs, and have wanted another dog for a year now. He keeps saying he'll get one but hasn't ever even looked into it. Another tidbit: we live in a one-bedroom apartment.

Am I wrong to be upset that he says no to me getting another dog?

The sex doesn't matter but the eye color does we perfer blue. We have a Cat and a 10yr old GSD(my dog). Must get along with animals, must be great with commands and Housebroken. Can't be a chewer( furniture leather). I will also like to adopt if possible or private breeder is fine.

We have a 13 months old baby girl and a 4 year old German Mini Schnauzer that has been with us since eight weeks old. I try to keep the two separated due to my fear of the dog biting the baby. The dog has never bitten anyone and is generally a very well trained house dog...he sees himself as a member of the family and only after the arrival of the baby last year has he been restricted to certain areas in the house to to hygiene reason etc. Now the rest of the family members start asking why the dog can't get close to the baby and they tell me that it is not fair to the dog. I am just so afraid that something will happen because babies can be rough sometimes (pulling hair, pinching nose, biting feet...lol) I love the dog, too...but am not sure how to overcome my paranoia. Has anyone ever had something bad happen with their dogs interacting with small children? Should we consider giving the dog away? That would break everyones heart and make me feel awful!!

Hi all, this is my first time asking a question here. A bit of background: I have two SPCA dogs, the younger one is about a year and a half old German Shepherd (may have some greyhound), and the older one is about 2 and a half and is malamute/husky.

The older one is very furry and I don't worry about him at all in this -30 cold. But the younger one doesn't have much of an undercoat. They have a dog run in the back, and we keep them out there during the day.

We built them a doghouse big enough for the both of them, so that they could share their heat during the winter. Problem is, I'm not sure if they actually use it. Is there any product or anything I could use to make them like it? I've put hay inside so the ground isn't freezing, plus I've sprinkled a few treats inside. They're crate trained, so they're not afraid of it, and we occasionally physically put them in and they don't seem to mind, but I'm worried they don't acutally use it...

Thanks!

He's already 28" at the shoulders and 31" from rump to his shoulders. He can place his head on the dining table. I don't know how much he weighs, over 80 lbs right now, I suspect. And I am wondering... how much more could I expect. I have heard large breeds continue to grow until @18 mos.
We certainly weren't even expecting this! (He's a found dog).

Something you might have spent money on that you'd tell other people not to buy.

While we're at it ... What's the best dog product you used? Something you'd recommend to others.
