Ok I have been laughing my butt off with some of the answers people have come up with when question is asked as to what kind of dog this is.
This is a quiz for all you out there that think they know thier dog breeds. The dog in this picture is a purbred, with a huge champion pedigree and a grandfather that was Best in Breed at a Westminster Club Show a few years back. He's my dog, but I am curious what people will say.
The winner of the Best Answer will be who ever is first, with
#1 Correct Breed
#2 Correct Coat Color
#3 Correct Coat Pattern
(or whoever comes closest!) GET READY.... GOOOO

I believe he is a Pembroke Corgi with a Blue Merle coat(?). Corgis are not my breed so that is the best I can do without cheating and checking at the AKC site for specifics or breed coat and color. I know welsh corgis have the docked tale and are typically tan and white (a little foxy look) and the Pembroke Corgi has a long tail and comes in several color variations and that a spotted coat is acceptable for show. He is one cute pup!
--I own a Brittany-so I can at least say with no hesitation that you don't have a Britt! BOL!

Looks to me like a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, the colors are hard to tell from the picture. It's either a blue merle or black and tan.
Gorgeous dog.

Blue merle Cardigan Welsh Corgi.
Hm....in collies that color description would be enough.....he's not a bi-blue, I see some tan there. He's not open marked. Are you looking for the term "blanket" or some equivalent?
How about blue merle with tan points?
Interesting how different breeds term their colors. In shelties, he would simply be referred to as "blue", or if he didn't have tan points he would be "bi-blue" (bicolor blue).
