Ok, check out this shelter video. It always makes me cry, especially when the man is =[ But happy that i Saved my Doberman, Hammer, from a shelter, and gave him a loving home with a big chained linked yard ( 2&1/2 acres) and all the food, water, shelter, walkies, and Love more than his big 100 pound, clumsy heart can bare!!!!!!
I saved him from a shelter in sept. when he was 11 months old, he was there twice bc he was never properly trained, and didnt know how to come, or not to run away. and the first owners never looked for him because he ran away from their little house, and found in an Albertsons parking lot, and then found wandering the streets by his 2nd owner, but when i came there he was alone, was very close to being euthanized. OVER MY DEAD BODY. My dad picked me up from school the next day to save him , and now hes right here snoozing by my feet =]

tell me what you think of it, and tell me how you got your dog, or if you got it from a shelter, tell me your story =]

My 4 month Sheltie x Maltese has never been to any classes and I want to start taking him to any training classes. He's not socialised, can I take him onto a level 1 class. They would take him but I wasn't sure if I should take him to a special puppy class for dogs under 6 months first. Which one should I start with? Shelties are quick learners.

I have a JRT puppy that I keep crated while I'm out. When I return, he is grunting and whining and sounding horse. He also is completely soaked and red on his face. It is odorless, so I don't think it's urine, I can only think that it's drool? Why would a puppy act like this?

My fiance and I got a boxer pup (only 6 weeks) 2 months after we bought our house. About 5 months ago, Zoey's behavior went CRAZY, she's EXTREMELY hyper we can't have company without her jumping all over them and she runs under the coffee table and snapps at us when we scald her. We do not hit, worried she will be afraid of us. So once we finally catch her, we have to kennel her the whole time that we have company, and we are a young couple, 21, so we have people over often. Well she is gettin progressively worse, the other night we were watching TV and she bit his toe. This morning i let her out so i could get ready for work, and she wouldn't come in, it was an honest to gosh fight... I ended up being 30 minutes late for work, have 3 seperate sets of bite marks and my arms are all scrated and bruised, I am all for gettin rid of this demon, but it would crush my fiance... any suggestions??? please!!!!

But when I press the shock button, it only makes him yelp. Is there a brand that just makes the dog drop to the ground, like on Cops?

I wanna call him a cheater *chi-ter, you see?* just because I'm bored.

What is the actual "designer" name for that? I wonder, so I can find an owner of another and say "HA! I got mine at the shelter for $50."

Any type of dog is ok for me except for german sheperds, I've had a bad experiance with them. All dogs are beautiful and are just like tiny human friends who listen to you when no one else does so I really want one! Please help me deciding, if you can provide a explanation please. Thank you very much.

I asked a question about getting my grandson a ferrett or a chihuahua, and I had alot of great information given to me, thank you. Mom decided against the ferrett, because of the smell and the rodenty look, sorry. Anyways she let him decide between 3 different breeds, a Chihuahua, a Boston Terrier or a Toy Poodle.

He doesn't seem to care which, he is 9 yrs old now. He just wants a pet, his mom said she didn't mind. They don't have pets now so she thought he was old enough to "help" care for it, she knows she will be doing the work. My question is, which of these three breeds is better for a child that is 9, almost 10? Any information would be fantastic, thank you in advance.

Ok now I need to know why my dog smells so funky, she is bathed 1 a week and sprayed with the well basicly fabreeze for dogs.. Her butt always smells pretty bad, she has what I have started calling the funk going on back there.. I took her to the groomer she said oh it is ok it is natural.. well if this is natural what can I do about it, I am sure she will not run around with a drier sheet tied to her.. She is an inside dog I need to find something... Oh yeah while on it anyone else have one of these dogs? if so please tell me if it is normal for her to be crazy, I think she is right there on the line of being stupid even tho she is smart, she can get into more in 20 minutes then my 5 year old can in a year.. thanks everyone...

I have a puppy (12 weeks) that I cannot let out during the day at all. I know he can't hold it.
what if I put a pee pee pad at the other end of his crate that I currently have blocked off with a screen? Just during the day when I'm gone.

At night and while he crated when I'm home I can put the divider back and remove the pad. Just until he's about 6 months or whenever I see he hasn't used the pad then completely remove it always?

Also IF that's a good idea how do I teach him to go on the pad? If his blankie he normally sleeps on is on one end and the pad on the other should't he kinda figure it out?
