I don't have any information on the sudden hair loss, but the panting all night issue reminds me of our dog. He's older than your dog, but about 5 years ago we noticed some behavioral changes, including what you've described. Turns out he has canine cognitive dysfunction...doggie Alzheimer's! As the condition progresses, it's very similar to what afflicts humans. Who knew! Our dog is on a once a day pill and takes a half of a Valium when he gets a little too distraught. The panting at night seems to be caused by panic attacks, which are exacerbated by being in the dark. We put a night light where our dog sleeps and this takes care of the problem for the most part. Watch your dog for odd behavior and make notes of it, then see your vet. Have him check your dog's eyesight too. That may be the problem.

If he is 10 yrs old you should probably prepare for the worst. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Vet for a physical. Sorry, I know how much a part of the family our 4 legged friends become.

How's your dog's eating and drinking habits? Is he going to the bathroom ok? What does his stool look like? Does his stomach look swollen? These are important questions that you need to address. If he isn't drinking or eating, or if his stomach looks swollen you need to get him to the vet ASAP. Sometimes when large dogs get older, their stomach will fill up with air and turn upside down. Honestly it can be anything!!! Because of his age, you will probably need to take him to the vet.

Fur faaling out could be a skin problem. Many older dogs seem to get skin problems.
Older dogs also get breathing problems.
I would take him to a vet to be on the safe side =)

Sounds like my dog. Your dog knows what's about to come and he's nervous. Take him to the vet. I don't see good news for you, but I hope I'm wrong.

You need to have the gland near his rear squeezed and emptied regularly by the groomer.
