my 17 year old cocker spaniel just passed away and i am really sad and mad that she couldn't live to grow old with me. i know 17 years is a long time for a dog, but the longer she lived, the harder i knew it would be to let her go....it sucks!!!

I wish I knew. My chow chow is going on 7 and I'm already afraid for her untimely death. She is so wonderful to my kids & to me. I'm sure that is how your cocker spaniel was as well. My heart goes out to you for your loss. You've lost your most loyal friend in the world! I just know your sweet dog was very lucky to have had YOU as her owner/mom. For her to have lived to the age of 17 shows how loving, caring & selfless you truly were to her. I don't know why dogs can't live as long as humans. It's just the way they were created to be. Perhaps to give other dogs a GREAT owner such as yourself during your lifetime. There are just too many abusive pet owners out there, mostly neglect. So many puppies and kittens die each day. Knowing yours had a wonderful fulfilling life with a warm hug every day of it's life is a great feeling of gladness. My sympathies to you & all who will miss her! :-(

Well, in dog years your cocker spaniel was 119 years old. I know your feelings though, I wish I'd never see my dog pass away. But what is worse, seeing your dog pass away or having your dog see you pass away?
