We just adopted two german shepard/ pitt bull mix puppies, a female and a male. We also have three children ages 8,7, and 5. I have heard good and bad things about both breeds of dogs and am curious to know if I have made a good choice in pets. If anyone has any info. on these breeds please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

Seems to me that you should have researched this info before adopting.
Take good care of your dogs and they will take good care of you. Remember, dogs are not disposable. I hope you didn't adopt these dogs with the idea that you can just get rid of them if it doesn't work out. That would be very irresponsible of you.
Please enroll them both in dog obedience class. Not only will it make your dog a better dog, but it will make you a better owner.

Genetics aside, a dog raised in a warm loving home will be a treasured family companion. Do your research and be well-informed so you'l know how to best train your pups to be well-behaved dogs. They may grow up quite huge so proper training will only benefit you in the end. You kids are gonna love having them around. I can imagine all 5 of them running around in the park playing fetch and rough-housing already. Have fun!!

both are aggressive/ breeds this does not mean that they are bad dogs or will attack, quite the contrary, aggressive breeds are territorial, and protect what they have. both breeds are breeds that have the ability to kill you if mistreated and they can do it without much effort. as long as you treat them with love and respect they will be the best dogs you could ever have, they will learn quickly and both breeds are easy to train, you need not do anything more than let them know you are disappointed with them when they are bad and they wont do it again, because both breeds love to please their masters. other dogs around can be a problem though.

they will probly like to play and be active alot. really how the dog turns out as far as if its a good dog to have depends on you and your willingness to train the dogs and give them the proper attention they need. dogs are not born bad it is the owners that make them that way. with the wrong kind of owner any dog will become bad but with a good responcable owner any dog will be fine. they sound like they would be great dogs to have for kids. kids are active and those breeds of dogs most of the time get along great with kids and love to play.

German Shepards are extremely loyal and pretty smart.

Pitbulls are great dogs and, despite the media, can be very gentle dogs if cared for and loved.

(ANY dog will be hostile if mistreated.)

Anyway, it sounds like you have some great dogs.
