There are no foods that make a chow dog big and strong.

It will just make the chow dog grow small and hardy, but never big and strong. Leave that to a doberman, my dear lady.

1st off, your Chow-Chows are adults now & require an adult food. Nutro Ultra is the best I have found after yrs of researching various brands. Of the wellness papers on dog foods I have read, Eukanuba & Iams (same company), Purina & Science Diet are all garbage. Even the Nutro brands that are less expensive than the Ultra aren't really that good. The breed you have also love fish!! Add some canned Salmon or Tuna to their dry food & watch how much they enjoy it! Canned Salmon can be obtained from the Family Dollar store @ very reasonable prices.

see you later as they're healthful and your vet wouldn't have a controversy with it, there should not be a difficulty. I easily have serveral dogs that devour a mixture of two large accurate price ingredients and look more beneficial useful then in the journey that they were on one or the different. My in undemanding words issue may be that the three mo old puppy receives adequate foodstuff. Your 10 mo old canines should be transitioning to grownup foodstuff in a month or 2 in spite of the undeniable fact that the puppy ought to live on puppy foodstuff(suited for that's breed) until eventually 8-12 mos.

I have worked in a vets for 7 years and the two best brands of pet food for any breed would be Hills Complete or Royal Canin. These come in puppy and adult bags and even small breed, large breed or giant breed so choose the size of kibble to suit it's breed. I would class them as a large breed. There not as cheap as supermarket brands but trust me if you want the best - it's the way forward.

I cook my chow a mix of rolled oats, barley, peas, sweat potato, raw carrots(raw to clean the teeth), raw apple, frozen peas(mashed), zucchini, and two eggs. I cook once a week for my dog, it takes less than an hour. She loves it, it's less expensive, healthier(chows have lots of allergies), and I know exactly what she is eating. Chows aren't meat eaters, they were traditionally fed grains and vegetables. They don't do well with animal protein. I give her eggs for her coat. I also add a little bit of a good omega oil to her food. Good luck

I have a chow chow akita cross, and I have read to include rice in her diet as they were originally asian, they are used to it. I feed all my dogs pedigree, and they have special formulas for diff ages. I also give my chow lots of things to chew, as they really are hunters. Big butcher bones are a fav of hers......as are cow hoofs! But this is only good when they have thier adult teeth.
chows are so adorable, so make sure you foster the right side of their personality. She is so loving, but also very protective, just what I wanted!
Look up the chow chow kennel club online, that's where I got my info...

Get Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul. That is the best puppy food IMO. Fo the adult dog get Innova EVO.

Here is a website that is useful http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

I normally recommend Canidae All Life Stages.

It contains more meat than grains( a lot of manufacturers list meat first but split the rice so it may read Chicken meal, ground rice, rice flour and rice bran then oil or something else but when you add up all the rice it really becomes the main ingredient) Canidae does not contain corn, wheat or soy which many dogs are allergic to, all the meats used are human grade antibiotic and hormone free and their rice is grown pesticide free, to top it off it priced the same as many lower quality dog foods like Nutro, eukanuba, IAMs, being it has less fillers and grain you feed less so based on meals per bag in can work out comparable in price to cheap foods like purina

With all the recent problems with dogs being poisoned...be sure to be safe and stick with DRY food only. My vet has always recommended dry food. You might ask your vet for his recommendations.
