My neighbor has a pit bull and blue heeler that continue to come into my yard and whip up on my four little puppies. My adult dogs try their best to keep the bad dogs away but all morning they are fighting badly. My dogs are staying in their own yard. two of my four pups have been injured bad enough to bleed so do I have the right to put rock salt in my bb gun and shoot the neighbors dog? I told my neighbor and he said to take the water hose to them but this does not work and now my pups wont eat or drink as they are terrified that the mean dogs will come back in their yard.

I'd ram a pitch fork threw their skulls. I'd warn the neighbors first though.

First off, I do not think that rock salt will fit into a bb gun and shooting bb's at the dogs is inhumane.
Secondly.. if your neighbor refuses to do anything about their dogs you "REALLY" need to call animal control!!!!
Third...take your injured dogs to the vet.. get "documented" proof of the injuries...have a camera ready for the next time the other comes in your yard (without your dogs being out there) and take pictures of it IN your yard. Take neighbor to court!!!! If aspca won't do anything you will at least get your message across to the owner that enough is enough!!!
Good luck

Call your local police/animal control and see what the local laws are. If there is a leash law, see if you can get someone out there to enforce it.
Even if there isn't a "leash law" there is probably a nuisance dog law or dangerous dog law which would apply here.
If you are too far in the boonies to have someone quickly come by when the dogs are in your yard, see if the local law enforcement folks have a "have a heart" type safe trap that could be used to capture these dogs. Warn your neighbor to keep the dogs out of your yard.
Then set the traps with food, keep your dogs inside and away from the traps, capture the dogs and call the local aco/sheriff/whomever to take the dogs away.
The owner will have to pay to get the dogs back. After he has paid a few times he will keep his dogs out of your yard.
This is humane for the dogs and safe. Most folks have heard of this kind of trap being used for racoons, etc, but they are also used to safely capture dogs.
Please check before you shoot the dogs with rock salt and see legally what you can do to protect your dogs.
I know many people say "don't punish the dog because the owner is irresponsible", but if I saw a dog in my yard ripping a hole in my puppy my instinct would be to chase the dog out and hurt it if necessary to keep my puppy safe.
Should your pups continue to suffer because someone else is irresponsible? I think not.
Make sure you document the injuries to your dogs/puppies.
Good luck.

No you don't have the right to do that. That's horrible. You need to file a complaint with the police department or Animal control in your city. They will maybe fine them or make them put up a fence or something. Especially if your dogs have been injured. There must be some kind of leash law in your city/state.

What are your local laws about dogs? Maybe they are breaking the law letting their dog run loose? Also, I would consider taking them to court for your dog's injuries. Our animal control is connected to the police department. So every time you complain, a cop comes out. I would shoot at them - only because they can then sue you. I would have them hauled off to the pound, call animal control, sue....
Good luck!

ABSOLUTELY NOT! do not punish the dogs for their owners mistakes (in their training, keeping them penned etc). As a dog owner yourself, I am shocked that you would ever think about harming an animal. Report them to your local animal control. Dog owners must keep their dogs on leashes or fenced in at all times, if the dogs are in your yard, it is illegal. In the meanwhile, get a fence or baricade to protect your dogs- or keep them inside.

You need to call Animal Control. Pit Bulls are very aggressive and next time they may eat the puppies. I live in GA and most of our counties have leash laws. You can also take them to court for negligence. Try calling the police station and ask them if you can shoot them don't take matter in your own hands unless they try to bite you.

It really shouldn't be up to you to babysit your neighbors dogs. Can't you report it to Animal Control, or even the cops if you don't have animal control in your area. Good Luck

You don't have a right to physically hurt an animal unless you, yourself, or a family member is at risk or injury. You should call an attorney.
