I have a three month old lab and my cat is about 4 years old. She's a bit jealous that a dog has invaded the house, but they don't really fight. The pup is really playful and will follow the cat throughout the house. She acts like she could care less. But then again sometimes the cat sits there with her paw in the air like she's about to swipe him if he comes close. lol

So does your cat get along with your dog?

yeah, they get along. we have three cats and three dogs, and they all are fine. you have to stay on the dogs about not chasing the cats though. if they bother them, you have to tell them that they're being bad (sometimes yelling) the cats get used to it after a while, and there's not much you can do about it if the cats are bothering the dogs.

Sadly, NO! we got our dog last year, when we moved into a new house-he was a stray, ha had been born and raised in our neighbors horse field-along with our two horses, they are all about a two years old!
Since he had no home, he had to hunt for food (bunnies, birds, squirles ext.) So when he See's a cat he thinks "YUM!"
So hes mostly an outside dog- but we have a back sun room which is about the size of a large bedroom, which he uses as a "dog house"! Our five cats are house cats since they cant go outside because of our dog!
He is still young and the vet said in about two more years, he will calm down enough to get some good training and be more friendly with the cats.... so we just have to wait!
This can be an inconvenience though, because the cats always want out and our dog, bear, always wants in! But sometimes we let the cats out for a half hour and let bear in..... but that's once in a blue moon!
Bear is very muched loved, as are the cats, and they each get plenty of tender care to make up for this inconvenience!
I'm probably one of the only people who answered NO, but hopefully in a few years it can be a YES!!!
hope this helps.... congrats on the new puppy
P.S. (i have to add this to all-lol) Get him fixed,OK?

If the canines would be a domestic dog i think of the cats ought to be happy with it. How I presented my canines and cats /cats and cats is permit each and each sniff eachother by way of a door, I did this for some days then I held one and permit the different sniff it from some inches away so It couldnt swat....Then a baby gate so as that they'd see eachother. My first cat grow to be very shielding and territorial yet now they love eachother. don't be scared if one growls or hisses, supply it time

I think my cat likes the dogs better then she likes me. She has been like that since I first brought her home over a year ago. The first night we had her she slept on the floor next to the dogs. She would even stand by the door and wait for the dogs to come inside when they went out to use the bathroom. The dogs don't mind her either they have been around a cat since I have had them.

Both my 16 yr old collie cross and my 4 yr old chihuahua LOVE my cat. THe chihuahua, especially, plays with the cat all day long!! The cat is a 4 yr old pedigree Tiffany, a totally affectionate neutered male. The cat has NEVER swiped at the dogs. They play chasey, then roll around together and finally go to sleep together. It's so beautiful..
My 16 yr old moggie cat tolerates the dogs sniffing him, but prefers to keep to himself. He too has never swiped at the dogs, but he just walks away. And finds somewhere to sleep.

heck yeah! i had a collie mix and a pregnant cat. when the cat ad her kittens, the dog would take care of them almost as much as the cat! the kittens would cuddle up with the dog and the dog would lick and clean them etc....
now i have a cat and 2 dogs, they all get along but don't really care much for each other (the cat just sort of stays out of the dogs'way, because the dogs want to play with the cat but the cat doesn't really get it... )

Our female cat mothered our puppy. They were inseparable, even when the dog hit 80 pounds, she till cuddled and played with her momma cat. Usually, a cat will nurture a puppy, but not over a certain age group. After that age, the cat will basically just tolerate the dog.

My dog and cat LOVE eachother. They are bestfriends. I have a Poochie (poodle chuahuah mix), and a 14lb black cat. At first the cat was not to happy with the curious pup, but one day the cat pounched on her, and they have been wrestling buddies ever since. The play ROUGH and chase eachother back and forth. Its the cutest damn thing I ever seen.

Yes, my dog and cat really get along. Our dog sometimes will make fun of my cat and my cat will do the same. Sometimes they will eat together and sleep together.
