.. prior to the operation to make sure she would be OK. "Cardiac arrest while on the table" is what they told us. I have a feeling that she was given too much anesthesia. Is there anything I can/should do about this? I'd hate to see it happen to another dog, and my family is having a hard time dealing with the death.

The dog is medium height, with an amber red coat. It has dark feet and a dark color behind it's pointy ears. It has a bushy tail and a longer snout. It looks identical to a red fox! It even has the slendy body type. The under side of the belly maybe a white or lighter brown/cream color.

Everyone warned me that Jack Russell Terrier were "High Maintence". The puppy if have as been a regular puppy. Nothing high maintence. Infact, she already barks to tell me she needs to go out. And when she goes in the house. She goes on paper or what she thinks might be pads. She tries very hard to make me happy. She already knows two commands. I am working on sit. She is a sweetie, I named her Maggie.

My aunt's dog is really sick, but she's in a financial bind, and can't afford to take her dog to the vet. Her dog has been throwing up brownish stuff, and was responsive yesterday night, but this morning, her dog didn't respond to her pinching. Is there anything she can do? Any medication she could possibly give her dog? My aunt thinks it may be something her dog ate. I'm really worried about her dog, as it sounds as though her dog is having the same symptom as mine a few years ago...

I know that the sight is overwhelming for her because she is sooo small, but how can I teach her to use the stairs leading outside so that i do not have to carry her outside each time she has to go?? Also I want her to get used to this so we can eventually install a dog door so she can use the potty area at will (since she goes so frequently)

The infamous locking jaw is a myth. The American Pit Bull Terrier and related breeds are physiologically no different from any other breed of dog. All dogs are from the same species and none have locking jaws. Dr. I Lehr Brisbin of the University of Georgia states, "To the best of our knowledge, there are no published scientific studies that would allow any meaningful comparison to be made of the biting power of various breeds of dogs. There are, moreover, compelling technical reasons why such data describing biting power in terms of 'pounds per square inch' can never be collected in a meaningful way. All figures describing biting power in such terms can be traced to either unfounded rumor or, in some cases, to newspaper articles with no foundation in factual data." Furthermore, Dr. Brisbin states, "The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of pit bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology, is no different than that of any breed of dog. There is absolutely no evidence for the existence of any kind of 'locking mechanism' unique to the structure of the jaw and/or teeth of the American Pit Bull Terrier

I have a malteese, and a papillion, about 4 years old! They still pee on the carpet in my bedroom in the same spot all the time! They will go on rugs too , if I use them! They have done it so much , I can't get the smell out, and the carpet is so worn out in that spot! I put tile in the rest of the house, but I can't afford to do my bedroom yet! I have grass in the back yard, and a doggy door, so they can go out whenever they want! Usually when it's cold , or rainy, they don't want to go on the grass, so when were not looking, they go on the carpet! I use a little green bissel to spot clean, but it seems to be making it smell worse! I can't sleep at night, because the smell bothers me!
Can anyone help me , before I tear out my carpet, and just live on conctete, untill I can afford to put more carpet or tile in my bedroom?
Even If I could afford it , I don't know what to replace the carpet with! If I put more carpet, they will probably pee on it too, and tile would be kind of cold!

I have a 4 mo. old puppy, that I have attempted to walk before, but everytime I do, he flips out, literally. I took him to the soccer park and he was flipping and flopping and at one point in time, he was letting me drag him while he lay on the ground. I dragged him for about 3/4 a mile (my arm is killing me!) At the end of it all, it scraped some of the skin off his pads. What can I do to solve this problem and will his paws be okay??

We recently adopted a dog that we were told was a chocolate Lab. My husband and several other people remarked that she looks like she might be part pit bull. We have two children under the age of 6. I don't want to overreact but I also don't have to protect my children. The dog is exceptionally sweet, affectionate, and behaves well. She shows no signs whatsoever of aggression. I read that pit bulls get a bad rap and were trained to attack dogs not people and they are actually very good with kids. I'd love to believe this but don't want to take any risks with my kids. Anyone who has actual experience with pit bulls (no uninformed opinions please) that can comment?

After spending the majority of my lunchbreak yesterday dodging cars on a main road to try and rescue a stray dog - whom several cars actually hit and drove on - I managed to catch him and bring him to the vet. She kept him in overnight to check him out and rang me today to inform me that he has a hip disorder and unfortunately he will have to be put down although I was going to keep him. She agrees that the reason he was thrown out of his home is because of this defect.
my question is - what kind of horrible cruel unconsiderate f*cker would throw a 6 mth old pup to the streets - because they cant be bothered to pay 50 quid to have him humanely put down??
I would gladly serve time for what I would do to a person that is capable of something cruel like this... what do you guys think??
xx
