For example, when your dog is 16 weeks, would you also say he is 4 months old? Or 3 and 1/2 months? Since up to 2 days can be added each month, as he gets older the difference between the number of weeks and months grows larger, how do you calculate?

A lot of people say their dog is 6 months old, which would translate to 24 weeks. However, it is closer to 26 weeks.

I recently moved out of my Mom's house after getting married and my dog isn't doing so great. I brought her to the vet and he said it's "failure to thrive". So I'm moving her in with myself and my husband. She has to stay inside b/c we don't have a fenced in yard. Is there anything that will prevent her from shedding a lot?

and also how can I teach him how to go lay down in his bed and not to do certain things? He is very nosy and I think that just comes with him being a puppy. I want to know when the nosiness will end. I am also scared that he will hurt himself if I am not around. Will puppies hurt themself unintentionally or am I just being silly and should let him roam free and stop worrying about him.

I don't know if she has come into heat yet, or if she has been bred. We keep her and another dog together in a doghouse overnight, so I don't know what goes on. What will happen if this happens, and will it hurt or kill her. Is there such a thing of dog abortion, and what is the cost of that, and if this gets done will she be able to have puppies again. Please help, i am so worried....

I had to buy my one year old lab mix a crate yesterday because she will not stop tearing up the furniture, not matter how many new toys I get her. Can anyone please give me advice on how to properly train her in it? I feel kinda guilty leaving her in it but I've heard that its actually really good for a dog. She would only be in there until we get home from work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How long does a dachshund carry puppies before she has them?

I have a 13yr Lab named Max. When we got him we already had a 3yr Lab. They were always together and Max followed him for everything. Two years ago the other dog died. Max was never left alone prior to this. Together they had free roam of the backyard all day long.

Now Max will not go outside with out someone. He always follows someone through the house. Even if I walk into the next room, he will jump up and follow. When we leave the house there is a problem. He always gets a "Goodbye Treat" and sees us walk out the door. When we get home, it is obvious that he has so much anxiety built up. The real problem is when we leave for more than 3 hours, especially if it is in the evening. He is so built up when we get home, he cant go to sleep. His mouth will be extremely dry and he spends the next three house constantly licking his lips and sighing.

Since the death of our other dog, Max has become a different dog. He seems like he is always scared and stressed out.

My husband got me a male about 2 years ago (not fixed). This dog was the greatest. About 7 months ago he got a female (not fixed) as a buddy for the male and also to breed. Now that she has gone into heet he is freaking out everytime a family member of ours goes into the room where the 2 of them are. I am afraid the male dog will hurt one of my children. I love both dogs and couldn't get rid of them, but my family comes first. I don't know if spaying and or nutering will stop the male dog from freaking when she is still near.

My puppy german shepherd likes to bite and growl recently. Though it swings its tail (a sign of friendliness), I'm worried about its behaviours. It behaves ok generally, but sometimes it seems to get 'over-excited'. It also likes to chew shoes when people're not around and it seems to be very unfriendly to 4-month old female Corgi owned by my neighbour. Besides, it doesn't eat much now. We tried to soften its food by adding in water as said by a shopkeeper in a pet shop, but this doesn't work.

I need as much information as possible, especially from dog owners and professional trainers. Thank you!

I have a problem. My schnauzer pup is 5 months old and he is very different from all the dogs I have ever owned in a bad way. He is super hard to train (I have had dogs my whole life) We started to gently housebreak him at three months, taking him out hourly, by four month every two.5 hours. He is pretty much housetrained but will urinate and defecate in the hall upstairs if we do not confine him to the bathroom at night. I have never had to confine a dog this long, max was three weeks. He will go poop outside (out 20 min at a time) return inside and poop in the hall once in a while. Besides this he run in front of our feet and tries to trip us continuously and he drags his pet bed from room to room and humps it all day long. The pooping and tripping are the worse. He also does not like me to hold him, he will play bite and become hyper. He seems strangely hyper and yet we watch his diet closely, only giving him good quality dog food. I am sad that he is not learning HELP!!
