Dogs - March 2007

In the last month my Westie has started to use plants etc in my conservatory as a toilet, he is very well house trained and I cant understand why he has started doing this. Any ideas how I can discourage? Many thanks for any advice.

My dog is about 4 years old and I really want to know whats wrong with him. He can't bend his back leg but can feel it. It he can walk on it but it hurts when I touch it. I really hope it isn't something horribly wrong, but if it is I really need to know

I would love to adopt a greyhound in the future. I'm just trying to find out what kind of lifestyle I need to make the dog happy.

This is the ebay auction I have going right now to raise money to save one of our rescue dogs, Charlie. She needs treatment for heart worms, which is Really expensive! Without the vet treatment she only has a couple months to live. I've put a post on Craigs List and tried yahoo Chat but its just full of spammers. How else can I spread the word about the auction? I'm selling pictures of her to raise the money.

I recently adopted a 1 year old pit bull and she destroys all of her toys except her kong. Do you have any other suggestions for good TUFF toys? She destroys tennis balls, rope toys, stuffed animals, and she chews through raw hides sooo quick I'm affraid she will swallow a huge piece. What else can I try?

Okay. I went to work. When I left, my dog did not have bad breath.

Our dog walker didn't show up today, so my dog was unattended all day :(

When I got home, his breath was rank. Awful. Never smelled worse.

What could cause this? Should I be concerned?

Could he have thrown up and then eaten it?

I live in Texas, so the traditional carting breeds aren't really happy with our summer heat. I wonder if a brace of greyhounds could pull a cart without harm to themselves?

ok we just got a saint bernard, still at the pet shp but we cant find things anywhere for him. we got a collar but it seem like things are so limited for larger dogs. is there a site or something i can go to? im looking for things like a bed, that is not too small for him to lay on. and a leash i have found a leash or too but alot of them say are for dogs up to a certain weight, this dog will get to be between 160-200. we have been lokoing online but cant find anything, if anyone could help us out we would be very thankful!

I posted a question worried about my runt of the litter. First I want to clear a few things. This is my mother in law's ***** and she knows how to breed dogs. So people dont need to jump to conclusions. Second cutting off a dogs tail is not illegal or cruel. Its done within three to five days of birth and can be a known characteristic of a certain breed. Now that, that is clear I don't want any rude answers or dont answer me at all. please. Now I was going to take the runt to the vet this morning along with the other pups and me and my husband were tranfering the pups to another cage and noticed there were four and not five. The runt was missing. The dog cage was open all night and the cat was locked away in a room. The mother is a very good mom and I don;t think schaunzers eat their young only rotweilers. We searched the whole house .The mother seemed to be looking also. We can't find it anywhere. Is it possible the mother hid it, ate it, or something else happened? Help me plesase

The runt of our litter that is now 6 days old is not doing so well. I am bottle feeding him and have noticed that milk often comes out from his nose. I don't notice this when he eats off of mom, but he also doesn't seem to get much from her. The other puppies are doing great. Is this a sign of him having a cleft palate and is there anyway I can check on my own? Or is he just getting ahead of himself when he eats from the bottle?

My goldie vomitted a few times within 5 hours. The fluid was initially yellow brown in color and became clear thereafter. He is still alert but a bit tired. He managed to pass out hard stool though. Did he ate something wrong? coz i suspect the yellow brown fluid could be the rib my granny fed him secretly coz normally he vomits light yellow color. he also ate some medicine the night before. suggestion? he just vomit whatever he drank.
